The High Price of Freedom

I doubt that there could be anyone who is not all too aware of the terrible tragedy that occurred yesterday in the United States. We live in a world that is now vastly different from what it was only a day ago. Our community represents people from across the world. Of all our members, the majority are Americans. Almost certainly, someone amongst our number has lost someone they knew, someone they loved... it is entirely conceivable that a member of our community was among those who died. I do not know. In all likelihood, we will never know. But we do not need to know to show our compassion towards the victims of these terrible acts of terror. Those who died were fellow human beings, and that is enough. I speak for the entire staff when I say that our thoughts are with you all at this time.

Bush said it (Yeah, but who cares), the New York Mayor said it, and many other authoritative figures said it. We should move on with our lives. It's been 2 weeks, and Ticalc has no new news. I cannot symphasize more for the people who have loved and lost, however, if we are moping in our greif and sadness and feel threatened and saddened, isn't that what the terroists want?
I say that we should not collapse from this one event. It could have been worse. Any nation could have this happen to them. Learn from this so that this won't happen in the future.

Try typing "NYC" (make sure it's in caps) in the Webdings fonts. See what you get.
Coincidence?

God Bless America, land that I love...stand beside her and guide her, with His might and the light from above.
The tragedy of September 11 may have taken a landmark and many lives, but it cannot take the spirit and determination of the American people, regardless of whether the towers are rebuilt or not.

After a year, a lot of things are different. The Taliban has been overturned, al-Qaeda has been broken up and forced into hiding, and President Bush has attempted to strengthen security, as well as other things.
But even after this, we are still very vulnerable. Last night (Sep. 11, '02) ABC illustrated how easy it was to get uranium into the country. It got all the way from the Middle East into a warehouse in NYC.
This is "the high price of freedom": if we are open, things like this are bound to happen. As such, we must be ready for these events, and try to prevent them without affecting normal travel.
We shall not forget 09.11.
