Vacation Times
Posted by Henrik on 28 June 2002, 22:00 GMT

It is vacation times for the ticalc.org staff. Being based in the northern hemisphere, we will enjoy summer. I know at least some of us will do some extensive travelling around the globe. Due to this, pending files will grow, help mail will be answered with greater delay, and not much new will happen for a month or two.

The ticalc.org staff wishes all our visitors a good summer (or winter if you are below the equator) and hope you all understand we all need some vacation.

Tell us about your own vacation plans below.

"It messes up when I do this."
"Then don't do it. HAHAHAHAHAHA"
Seriously, though, I don't know. If it were a TI-86, I could tell you. I don't have an SE, so maybe that's normal. It totally locks up when you do that, and you have to reset?

Reset? I wish it was just that!
The RAM goes, and the problem is still there.
Back-up battery out for three days and still, when I press any two arrow keys it freezes, shuts off, or makes the screen turn BLUE. p00p!

Do you think it has something to do with that "Blue LCD" program?

No, not if he's already re-installed the OS and everything. I'm clueless.

once i had a problem with my calc with on of those programs that turns your calc off, one that you would use in a program or something. Well, it screwed up and every time i turned it on, it just turned right back off. I took the batteries out and everything (including the lithium) but it didn't work, so I sent it to TI to fix it. When I got it back, everything was fine. (by the way, it was the same calc I got back because of certain scratches I had on it were still there, they didn't just send a new one) So I would suggest telling them what's wrong with it and sending it to them. It might take a couple of weeks to get back but atleast it'll be fixed.

I've never heard of a calculator messing up like that from one of those programs. I've gotten that kind of crash before, but usually you just reset and it's fine.

Did you have Omnicalc on your calculator? I've had problems with it using the virtual calc and rom recover features that really messed up my calculator. However, a simple all memory clear fixed most of that.

Yes, it might have been Omnicalc...The restore mem function didn't work (it had previously), and I reset the RAM (that's how I got it to work before), and (I'm pretty sure) thats when the screen turned a lovely shade of blue. Siggghhhhh :(

Thanx for the advice, I'll probably have to. I didn't want to sent it to TI because I heard that they send you a "refurbished" (read sort-of fixed calc). If you got your orignal back and it worked fine...
Hello, TI-cares

The custom menu (VARS + VARS) doesn't work on my 83 Plus - maybe it's because I have OS v1.14???

Does Omnicalc mess up your ROM or something? How else could it get the custom menus and other features like that? I've never used it (because DUH I don't have a calculator that will run it), so I've never seen the results.

I think that FLASH Apps on the 83+ can do that...I don't think that you could with an ASM program.

Hey people! Check out the corkboard I added to my TI-83/Plus site (it's kinda sucky - but that's okay; see URL and click the Corkboard link). Does anybody want to be on my site's staff and post messages and stuff? Anyone who owns a TI-83/Plus/S.E. is welcome.

It's probably not your programs fault. It was just the only thing I could think of that had the blue LCD thing, though I think I heard of something like that a while back.

My 89 refuses to tell me when the batteries are low. Evidently the gauge is broken, because Tictex says that the batteries are full no matter how full they really are. I contacted TI about this, except that I didn't indicate that I was royally pissed off at having lost 6-7 hours of work in 35 seconds. I did tell them what I had lost, just not my level of pissedoffness.
