TI-Keyboard: Coming Soon?
Posted by Eric on 11 May 2002, 22:25 GMT

Several people have alerted me to an interesting new piece of hardware mentioned on Page 8 of the recent TI-Cares publication- a full-sized QWERTY keyboard that hooks up into your calculator's link port. A couple keyboard projects have been in the works lately by independent developers, but apparently TI has decided to make their own official version. More news to come? Hopefully...

ALRIGHT!!! I'm already using RadicalSoft's keyboard thing and it works just fine. But would you really need it for the TI-92 Plus?!?

Obviously not, considering that the TI-92 Plus already has a QWERTY keyboard.

I wonder how they would make a TI-80/81 keyboard? Through the ViewScreen port or something?

Have you ever noticed that when you sneeze on a computer screen, you can see all the little pixels? The little red, green, and blue... isn't that so cool?

Or when I gleek on the screen. The water droplets just magnify the small phosphors so you can see them.

It only works with CRT's and not LCD's or whatever.

That's because the pixels in an LCD are actually physical objects, while the CRT pixels are tiny electron beams.

Well, the pixels in a CRT are really tiny phosphors which are excited and emit light when the electron beam hits them. They are separated into the three components of color: Red, Green, and Blue. This is based on the concept of color addition. Pigments (dyes, inks) are based on color subtraction.

Oh, my goodness, that is so not fair!!! I have invented a similar device; it is posted on my website www.cemetech.homestead.com! Hope that they make a good one! :)

TI is just ripping off the programmers who realized it would be a good idea, and TI just decides to make a version they can sell. Very kind of them.
