Free CellSheet Application
Posted by Eric on 2 April 2002, 23:01 GMT

TI is running a special offer on CellSheet, its spreadsheet program for the TI-83+, TI-89 and TI-92+. Formerly $15, you can now get it for free for a limited time. Mmm...free is good.

Hey, is there any way someone who got this could email it to me? I'd just as soon not give TI my personal billing info, phone number, etc. Free is wonderful, but I don't trust TI farther than I can throw an integrated circuit...

Does anyone know if TI has some valid reason for wanting all the information when you download something marked "free"? I assume they don't plan on sending people invoices for $0.00.

No, it can't be emailed. It must be "signed" or something for your particular calc's ID, and it's done online before it can be downloaded. I know, it's silly to enter the billing information for only $0.00, but you'll need to do it in order to get the program.

The reason for the billing stuff is probably due to the way TI handles all flash apps that need to be signed. I don't really know at all.

Actually, it is just the way the handle the new price. If you give me your calc ID and they type of calc it is, I could probably give it to you. I need the ID because you need it for the cert.

Forget it everyone. Everything's fine. I faked out the address checker program. My calculator and I will now investigate the app with Calcsys... he he he... :)

All I did to fake it out was give it my old address. I wish the app were smaller. I'm down to my last 25k of flash rom.

I always tell 'em some arbritary address, like "Center Main" of a town.

It's valid, and it's not my address so everyone's happy!

I was wondering, this app is free, but what happens if you put a bad address on an app that isn't free? Then TI can't send you any invoice, and you'd get it for free, instead of paying money. Isn't there something not quite right here?

I tried to buy the CellSheet app this way, but I needed a creditcard number :(

Dude, you'd have to put a credit card # in. The card company knows your address. They just match the # to the address, and send the invoice there.

Just email your calc ID to someone first, and get them to send it back via email. I can't do it, my download isn't working.

I think that all SE's have a similar group of numbers in their ID code. This was probably recognized and allowed you to transfer it, which makes sense because it's free for SE's. If you try it with just a normal 83+, it probably wouldn't work.
