I've broken my friends calculator, my calculators, school calculators, etc. on purpose, but most times they were fixable (except for a couple school calcs...)
I enjoy hacking and I've made a few viruses for different calcs.

I know a guy who is convinced that there is a way to make viruses in Basic for 83+. I tell him, it's impossible, but he's obsessed.
(I just felt like saying that.)

There is a way to make a small virus for the 83+(i don't know bout se) using only basic:

1. First make a new prgm called prgmA
2. Make the first line of that prgm:
:AsmPrgm
3. Exit that prgm
4. Make another new prgm called prgmB
5. Make the first line of that prgm:
:Asm(prgmA
6. Then run prgmB and your calc should freeze. I don't know if this will work on an os newer than 1.14 cus that is the newest os i have. I also put this code on my site at http://83p.tigalaxy.com/ if u wanna check it out.

Fun with a calc (mwahahahahaha)
benryves Account Info
(Web Page)

Here are some 'mucking up' stuff for a TI-83+
(They do nothing harmful at all).

Not quite a virus, still, this is great fun:

PRGM:COOLGAME
:Lbl A
:Input "",Str0
:Goto A

If you send this to their calc (telling them that it is a 'cool' game) then run it, they (could) be befuddled: nothing does anything! (No Y= editor, sums don't work...). To get out of it, press 'ON' or 2nd+QUIT.

This one is slightly cooler:

PRGM:REALCOOL
:AsmPrgm
:3E60
:D310
:C9

Run this with Asm(prgmREALCOOL

It shifts the screen up about half-way (turn calc off then on again to clear).

Or, quite simply, snatch their calc, turn on to home screen, turn contrast to zero, and ask them why their calc doesn't turn on. This will scare them!

w00t!

For stupid people...
benryves Account Info

This is a very useful program to annoy those 'give me a game' people:
(Note: write it on your calculator with lowercase text, then send it to their calc...)

PROGRAM:GOODGAME
:ClrHome
:Menu("Garbage Collect?","No",X,"Yes",X)
:Lbl X
:ClrHome
:Output(1,1,"Garbage")
:Output(2,1,"Collecting...")
:Lbl LP
:Goto LP

Send it to their calculator and say that it is a really good version of Doom/Super Mario/Any other game for the calculator.
Get them to run it...
Up comes the GarbageCollect message- tell them that the program uses the archive quite extensively, and that it is a good idea to Garbage Collect first. They will nod their heads, say 'Oh yes' or something similar and start 'Garbage Collecting'.

Run.

My stupid ass friend removed all his batteries when the 83 plus was garbage collecting after exiting a game because he wanted a fast way to get out so that i can install a new backup for games...That idiot was so god damn stupid!!!!!! He took out the batteries so fast that i couldn't even stop him....So, his calculator was messed up!!!! At first, i thought that his memory was corrupted :P I felt a little guilty, so searched for a way to fix the god damn calculator by deleting the OS and installing a new one!!!

Installing the god damn OS was a pain in the ass!!!! I had to borrow a bunch of school 83 plus for their OS, but that crap didn't work even after I tried sending the OS like 30 freaking times. All those school 83s had a 1.12 OS! Then I borrowed a friend's 83 plus with 1.13 OS and that worked after like 10 freaking trials and it took like 10 mins for the OS transfer to complete!!!!!!!!

That same stupid ass friend tried to upgrade his god damn OS to 1.14 in school with their graphlink and he screwed his god damn calculator again!!! The stupid moron probably pressed some stupid ass button on the calculator when the OS was being transfered. This time, the memory was corrupted for sure because i couldn't even transfer the 1.12 or 1.13 OS even after sending the OS back to the messed up calc for a hr or so :P

Next time, when you give your friends that own a 83 plus games, tell them that you will not fix their god damn calculator if they mess it up by removing batteries during garbage collect and upgrade of OS!!!!!

By the way, some guy from texas instrument sent me an email stating that it cost like fifty god damn bucks plus shipping and handling to send your 83 plus back to texas instrument for repair!!!

Save yourself all the hassle:
Install OmniCalc over OS1.14
(That *really* screws up the Y Vars- they claim to be 15k in size, then you go to delete them and the calc presents garbled text, then locks up).
Another thing to do with OmniCalc:
Make sure that the Entries menu is ON.
At the home screen type in a lot of 'sin(' things:
sin(cos(tan(sin(cos(tan(sin(cos(tan
Use the clipboard function to copy that and paste loads of copies of it down so that you have a MASSIVE string of them. Then stick a number at the end and hit enter.
The thing will crunch away and eventually come out with an answer.
Go 2nd+Enter. This screwed my calc big style. (I had to take ALL batteries out then force-install the OS again).

you are probably on an 83+ rather than SE, and one ram version had a bug where some programs, run in an infinite loop calling themselves, prgmV and prgmU worked well, would not display memory error after 400 or so loops, but instead garble up the screen, load an app, or do any number of weird things. I think I will code a program like:

ei
ld h,r ;random
HALT ;random delay time, untill next interrupt
ld l,r ;random again
jp hl ;random jump

When you have it enabled, you must turn the calc off/on to have it save the ram. Then, when your ram gets cleared or whatever, you must reinstall omnicalc and quit. then press [prgm] twice and press left (I think) to get to the ram recovery thing. paste it to the screen, and put a number (see below), then press enter

it'll look like:
ramrecover(0)

I've made programs like that, but this one did nothing. A version of Solytaire messed up my 83 pretty badly though.

Who???

If it's Daniel Moore I'm going to give him a piece of my mind and then mess up his 86.

I'm sure that everyone that is going to the high school has forgotten about her...I know I have! She was (no offense) stupid! Besides, you were the one in tech app! Didn't Matt Lee say something about how he told her about Alt+Tab to interchange the current program, and she said that she had figured it out? Sheesh...

Not true!

I know it sounds weird, but I made a basic program that makes your calc hang up and crashes emulators. To be honest it was a mistake, but a nice one. I'll post it somewhere around here when I've found it, I know I've got it somewhere.

POST IT! POST IT! I made a BASIC program that takes up 8.5K on your calc and all it does is display

"THIS PROGRAM TAKES UP WAY TOO MUCH SPACE"

I was sent to my room and was very bored.

I found it! Here it is:

1000->lCA(1) ; "l" = "list",
""->Str9 ; "->" = "store"
"Q"->Str0
If expr(Str0)=C:lCA(1)+2A->lCA(1)
If expr(Str9)=D:lCA(1)+2A->lCA(1)

It's capable of resetting a Ti-83 (+/SE I'm not shure). Please don't ask me how... I haven't got a clue.
I do know that the first three lines are to keep your calc from giving an "ERR:UNDEFINED" message, 'cos that would break the program and nothing would happen. Somewhere in the last two lines Texas Instruments made a huge mistake...

lCA should be read as (list)CA. If it still doesn't work, let me know, I'll try to fix it. There is a chance that it only works with VTI, or with my rom version, I don't know. I do know that it worked on my VTI...

I made a program, (you can download it from the website soon), that locks up a calc using BASIC. It says Error at Register EF08, and then says it is resetting the calc, when it gets to 100%, it starts over.

actually it is possible to make a virus for the ti83+, if you consider freezing the calc a virus. I've seen it before. Go to Jamcalc.org to see.

It is possible:
randBin(9E99,.5
it will take a few generations before your calc finishes this command, and pressing on doesn't stop it so you must pull out the batteries

Oh yeah, i found a good ass program by kirk m something that drains all your battery for the TI-86 after running it for several times!!!!!!!!

I think the program is named System monitor in asm 86, misc programs.

A couple of days ago, I downloaded it and ran the system monitor like seven to eight times. I ran the program for like 4 times at night and ran it for like 3 times in the morning. Then my battery contrast level went from 5 to 8!!! Level 8 on the 86 means that you see the low battery message :P My system monitor tells you how much memory left and battery left in percent.
At night, the program said that i had 60 percent in battery left. Then in the morning, i ran it a few times and i had to constantly adjust the constrast level higher. And suddently the low battery message appears!!!!!!

Great program for the 86 to mess up all those stupid idiots that bug you for games!!!! ROFL

Just curious as to whether you guys have anything better to do with your time than put up a bunch of stupid "Viruses" that are just programs that you press "ON" to exit...There are no TRUE viruses out of ASM Programming...wOOt

Couldn't you make an asm program in IM 2 that doesn't let you turn it off and disables APD? Then your batteries would run out cause you couldn't turn it off!
never mind.

ForeverLoop:
jr ForeverLoop
.END

HAHAHAHA!

Re: "Viruses"

You could make a program in TIGCC that would trap the link interrupt, send itself, and then send the file. The hard part would be having the virus invisibly run itself on the remote calc. You could send keystrokes, but the user would then know something was wrong. They could reset the calculator, but they would lose their data. In any case, the virus (more accurately a worm) would hopefully be intelligent enough to allocate memory, copy itself into the allocated memory, jump to its dymanic code (i.e. the code in allocated memory), and then delete the VAT symbol of the executable.
The dynamic code would likely have an event loop (see the TIGCC help for events.h for more detailS) that would give the outward appearances of the TIOS, and indeed be essentially the same, but with a twist so that certain events would be trapped and possibly modified. Examples of such events would be:
Sending a variable in VAR-LINK
Resetting the calculator (modify the interrupt vector at 0x0 to point to the virus instead of TIOS)
Unlinking memory blocks (the virus would prevent it's own demise)
Other miscellaneous events and processor interrupts that the virus might want to affect.
All this could easily amount to breaking the 8k limit, but that could be easily curcumvented.
Anyone up for a good round of coding?

The allocated memory would be in the FLASH (see flash.h). the block would be marked as 'used' and 'locked', but not included in any symbol tables (like the VAT). then, it would be nearly impossible to remove.
PS: The block of archive memory would have to have the 'execution forbidden' bit set to 0 (no).

Re: "Viruses"

Wrong. Type in:
sin(cos(tan(sin(cos(tan(sin(cos(tan(sin( etc. 4

This will freeze up your calc and you can't exit by pressing ON because the calc is processing something and it won't interupt while processing something. It'll freexe it for 4-5 min.
