Yup. During math all of the girls don't know how to use their calculators, so I help them and it makes me look smart. :)

I will definately vouch for that. I have showed so many girls how to use thier calc. Especially since teachers are no help if it is not an 83.

I voted No, but now that you mention it, yes, I have gotten lucky thanks to my beloved 89...

Yeah man. Picture it: You see a guy with muscles that make his shirts cry, turning on his charm as some hot swimsuit modles walk by. He then quickly puts on his glasses and his pocket protecter and starts entering quadratic equations in his TI-89. The women would then flock over this model male. I do what Angelboy does. Help the girls who don't get it. I have (seriously) gotten 4 dates and 2 serious relationships that way. And I'm 15!

It's rather hard to be a cool geek... though come to think of it, I am "the hot nerd" (I love that nickname).

That's news to me . . . except for the music . . . lol
just teasing man . . .
All the recognition I get from my calc knowhow is appreciation from my section leader in band . . . whose name sounds the same as my girlfriend's name, but the section leader's male (Danny and Dannie) if you want to attract the opposite sex, go for music and art and writing and that sort of stuff, be gentle, kind, humorous, and BY THE GODS WEAR BLACK!! even a born nerd can handle the simplest levels of gothicness, and goths are generally more attractive than nerds. just passing on my wisdom . . .

It isn't always that bad. Most people (including girls) are grateful when you help them. In my experience that doesn't really mean your chances improve though. However, the next time they see you in front of a computer, they won't think you as weird as they used to.

BTW "except when *YOU* need help"? Cool :)

if you show them how to use it and they understand what you mean then maybe they will like you better, than if you tell them what to do and don't explain it to them then they will get bored. to learn something, you have to understand something.

Not with me... for some reason, they actually DO like me, which is a scary thought...

If you help them with their math problem, and act nice about it (that takes skill), then you can get them to appreciate it, instead of just using you as a tool to spit out answers.

Sometimes you cannot be nice about it though. I was helping a bunch of students in a gemoetry class, and I swear that they are dumb as rocks. I wound up insulting them all, and never returning.

Well... I've "helped" people like that before in programming, so I know what you mean. I'm serious, their QB program looks something like this:

DIM num(number)
FOR i=1 TO 20
number(8) = i
NEXT i
FOR i=1 TO 20
PRINT num(i)
NEXT i
temp=num(1)
num(1)=temp

And I asked them what the heck they were trying to accomplish and it was something totally different and they kept on saying "No, just tell me what line is wrong" and I was like pulling my hair out and they wouldn't leave me alone and I was getting all paranoid that everybody was going to ask me stupid questions... that was a traumatic experience.

Not me... I'm friends with more girls than boys. Girls get along with nerds than non-nerd boys. Either that, or sitting at the girls lunch table for five years paid off :) <heheh>

I agree. They are always wanting to come to me and play on it or asking me about it and such. The game they ask me about the most is tetris, which I have for the ti-89. Even if they don't know how to play it, they do anyway. I think girls are crazy about technology or something.
