TI Releases ROM v1.15 for the 83+
Posted by Nick B. on 26 August 2002, 05:52 GMT

OS 1.15 has magically become available for the 83+. We're told that this version adds two features: TI-keyboard support and improved support for the CBL2 on the Silver Edition.

If either of these things apply to you, or you complusively need the latest and greatest thing, visit the TI store and select the appropiate subsection.

Does anyone know yet what programs will completely fail to function under the new OS, because of changes TI made? I still run 1.13, because I keep hearing about problems with non-TI programs on 1.14. The fact that every 89 and 92+ OS seems to require massive changes to all the shells and kernels isn't very encouraging here.
Also, does this shed any new light on the TI-Keyboard protocol? I emailed TI about it months ago and was never answered; maybe it's time to try again...

I think it's 417 posts under a news article 2 years ago. This one has taken the lead now.

Not even close... a few months ago we had one with nearly 650 posts. If not more than that.

Hey guys, off topic but still relevant to our times:
I've put together what I consider a rather thorough examination of TI-89 AMS 2.08 . It outlines both the good and the bad aspects of the new OS, as well as explains the new functions (as best as I could understand them). Check it out by clicking the Web Page link above or going to http://www.bugstew.net/ams208review/ .

OK then... if that doesn't work (since my computer has been actually turned off lately, *Gasp!*), then try http://www.geocities.com/ augrad/index.html (click Web Page above).

I know this is a bit off topic, but it is one of the few places, I could get this seen. I broke my link "port" on my calc. However the problem is, I need to open my calc, so I can solder it back on, but alas, I can't find a screw driver that works, I know it looks similiar to a hex. Does anyone know where I can get one, or what kind of screw driver it is?

It's a hex screw. I'm pretty sure you can get one from any hardware store, like Home Depot.

It's a Torx. Use a T5, but I've found you can get a T6 to fit too.

Well, you could keep guessing and guessing and guessing until you got combinations that made sensible words...

In the old days, telegraph operators across the U.S. used this form of communication daily. In World War 2, Morse code was used for getting information about how the Allies were doing across the Atlantic Ocean in North Africa and Europe. It used to be a major form of communication. Those telegraph operators were at the switches day and night taking messages, and having to decode that in their heads perfectly!

Reminds me how far we've come in the passing years.

Yes but there were distinct pauses between letters and words to allow for decoding :)

If you post anything on TICalc's boards with more than one space between characters, the spaces are reduced to one space. For an example, search this board for 'compression' and look at my binary compression tree.

Try submitting your comment again, but this time, take the spaces out from between the '.'s and '-'s in each letter. For example,
_ . _ _ _ _ _ . . _ . _ _ _ _ _ . . _ . _ . . _ . . _ . _ _ . . . _ . . . . . . _ _ . . _ _ . _ . . . _ . _ _ . . . . . _ . _ . _ _ _ _ _ . . _ . _ _ . . _ . . . . . _ _ . _ . _ . _ . _ . _ _ _ . . _ _ _ . . . . .

should be
-.- -- --. .- .- --- -. .- .-. . -.. -. --. ..-. ... ..- -. .-- .- .. .-. -- .. ... -. - .- ---- .. - .- -.. -. .. .. --. - . -.- .- .- - -. .-- -. .. ..

or whatever.
