Gemini RT3D game released for the TI-83 Plus
Posted by Niklas on 21 August 2002, 22:08 GMT

Hans Törnqvist has released Gemini, a real-time 3D raycasting game for the TI-83 and TI-83 Plus (available for Ion and MirageOS ). Features include a background story (!), textures, pushable walls and various enemies, items and weapons, all packed in a huge 23Kb program file.

Also included is some documentation on how to use this game's engine for your own game as well as a discussion of programming methods, shortcuts, and general tips for other programmers. :)

Update (Niklas): A TI-83 version has been added to the archives.

uhhh, if you deleted everything except Gemini, you should have ample RAM. If you're using ION, delete the main program that you ran at first - its the one that's about 1570 bytes. If you're using Mirage, well, I dunno what to tell you - you ought to have enough.

Yeah, hidden stuff can clog up RAM sometimes. Also, even after resetting go back to 2nd MEM 2 1 and delete all your lists, they're 12 bytes each; and they're created when you RAM reset.

There is, the screenshots look pretty good too. I think someone made some reviews for HP49G vs. TI-89 and HP39G vs. TI-83+ too, I think he was on staff of calc.org for some time too. Click on "(Web Page)".

If it isn't, archive everything then clear the RAM. You'l have enough then, just as long as you don't play any games before gemini.

Sigh, I'll never get a first post. At least I got my modem working in Linux. ^__^ Anyway, this looks cool. It has a full 3D engine or something?

Hey, this is kind of off topic, but how do you get the USB SilverLink to work with TI-Connect? And don't just tell me to get TiLP.

Does the link cable install automatically with the TI-Connect software, or do I have to install the cable on its own?

First of all, download TI Connect from the internet, cuz it'll probably be newer than what's on the CD. Then install it and reboot. After you have rebooted, plug in the cable. Then launch TI Connect. I'm having problems with it myself (transferring Fargo to my 92) and I can't get TiLP to work in Windows, so I'm gonna try to install it in Linux.
