AMS v2.04 for TI-89 and TI-92+ Released
Posted by Eric on 7 June 2000, 23:51 GMT
Reno notified us that TI has recently released the new version of the TI-89/92+ internal software. The new version includes an increased RAM limit for ASM programs (8K to 24K), language improvements, and other enhancements. Download AMS v2.04 for the TI-89 and TI-92+. Update (Nick): I will say this once and once only: IF YOU PUT AMS V2.04 ON YOUR CALCULATOR, WE HOLD ABSOLUTELY NO RESPONSIBILITY TO ANY FUNCTIONALITY OF THE PROGRAMS YOU DOWNLOAD FROM THIS SITE. VERY FEW, IF ANY, ASSEMBLY PROGRAMS, WILL PROBABLY WORK. TI HAS BEEN KNOWN TO DECREASE COMPATIBILITY WITH EVERY SINGLE ROM VERSION AND THEIR "ENHANCEMENTS" USUALLY MEAN THAT ASSEMBLY PROGRAM LIMITATIONS HAVE BEEN PUT IN. DO NOT ASK US WHEN AUTHORS WILL PUT IN SUPPORT FOR V2.04: THAT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE AUTHORS ALONE. Thank you. :) Update (Nathan): Okay, I know everyone's too lazy to do it themselves, so I'll just say that I upgraded to AMS 2.04, and DoorsOS II v0.96 installs, but doesn't work (Address error when trying to run Doors). Patrick Davidson informed us that Universal OS works perfectly under this crazy new AMS version, but only under hardware v1.00. So now you've been warned, and as usual, we don't want to hear about it if your programs don't work. Ask the authors, not us. Thank you. :) Update Purple Monkey Dishwasher (Nick): I've gotten about six or seven emails that this ROM version in fact does transfer over successfully with a black link. Some people were, however, complaining about speed issues. Double Update Action (Nick): Matt Baum gave me an email showing a brief list of programs and their functionality under this new AMS. It might be of help to some of you.

A week before finals, my 89 died. 3 months before, my linkport had failed. 2 years before I bought the blasted thing.
It was a good trip. I accidentally kung-fu kicked the thing into a cement wall, and it's abs shell did not break. I accidentally stomped on it, and my LCD remained blemish free. I used the thing on a Chemistry test, and it died a miserable death.
so I was forced to think on my final exams. I got a 50 percent on my Algebra II/Trigonometry exam, and a 96 percent on my Chem exam. But still, I mourned. So I had the courier deliver it's corpse by insured mail, and sit waiting for the day when the post arrives baring my calculator.
I have a question, though. Mine was a calculator with HW 1.0 and Software 1.00, and it worked perfectly with the assembly programs that were out there. What will become of the new calculator, though? Almost certainly it will be Hardware 2, but what will the image be?
If it is the dreaded 2.04, if they have loaded it on to the calculators to be sold soon, what can I do? Is there any hope to restore the image at least, or will I be stuck with HW 2.00 and Image 2.04 until the last proton decays?

One quick question. If I have a copy of the AMS 2.03 software, and upgrade to 2.04, can I just use the old 2.03 software and send it the normal way, or is some special procedure needed to downgrade a rom? Or, for that matter, is it even possible?

Red Text is Bad.

Arrgh! The red phosphorescent pigments of the graphical representing of the text on my cathode ray tube due to the stimulation by cathode ray "guns" resulting from the HTTP transfer of malignant data from the ticalc.org server have caused irreparable damage to the nervous tunic of both the left and right ocular bodies. The contrast has caused a buildup of fluid to occur between the retina and the choroid body inferior to the retina of the eye. The fluid buildup has caused the retina to detach from the choroid body, which functions in nourishment of the retinal photoreceptors. Without the nutrients provided, the retina will rapidly degenerate, especially in the central fovea of the macula lutea. Also, the shape of the retina will be altered, causing highly blurred vision and other damages to the intrinsic muscles of the eye, the lens, and the cornea.
Yes, they're all words.
Translated it means: The red text on my display has caused glaucoma - the separation of the retina from the wall of the eye, which in turn may cause other irreparable damage.
Needless to say, I learned this in my 9th grade Tortora & Grabowski [I think that's how you spell it] Human Anatomy and Physiology course.
DOWN WITH RED TEXT!!!
