TI-84 Plus Now Available
Posted by Michael on 26 April 2004, 04:28 GMT

Breaking news just in: The TI-84 Plus is now available through most channels for purchasing. TI has also created a new website to promote the new 84 product line: 84silver.com.

It appears that the 84 Plus Silver Edition is not yet available (you can pre-order from several places though), only the 84 Plus for now. If you are looking for a place to buy one, check Froogle.

On a slightly different topic...

Will the 84's be able to write in lower case? Is there an app or something that allows you to write in lower case on the 83? I can write in lower case on my graph-link and then download it, but I'd like to be able to write in lower case directly on the calc.

Thanks

Know of any specific programs?

Can you lead me to, or tell me about, a specific program that does this? I'd rather not spend all day looking for one.

Thanks.

Omnicalc is a good one
MirageOS works
CalcSys has a more complex way of doing it
There are also groups of ASM programs which allow you to turn on lowercase.

MirageOS is the one most people use. Only one person in my school knows how to use anything else to write lowercase.

I've found one called Advanced Controls. It's for the 83+, but it might work for the 83. I don't know -- I don't have an 83.

See link for the program.

Speaking of lower-case, would it be possible to make an app that would allow you to copy and paste stuff? It would make programming soooooooo much easier.

Clipboard functionality was removed in Omnicalc 1.1 as it was the source of most Omnicalc crashes (or: the TI-OS crashed because it didn't error check nicely.)

Even then, it was limited to homescreen only.

Thats not entirely true because i have version 1.1 and it still haves the clipboard. I got the version about 3 months ago at detached solutions.

I think someone should try to. I'm too lazy to learn assembly, otherwise I would do it myself.

It's implemented in every OS since, I think, 1.15. Someone would just have to find the ROM calls.

The TI-Keyboard allows it already, and so does NoteFolio.

NoteFolio does the clipboard itself...

That was before 1.15. Now it works with the entire OS, meaning it's implemented in the entire OS and not just NoteFolio.

I think I've seen that one...but I don't find it very useful.

I have both MirageOS and Omnicalc on my 83+, they seem to work fine for lowercase...

AsmPrgmFDCB36DEC9 should do it.

Go to 83 archive on ticalc and go to asm and then find misc. there should be programs written for the 83 that enables and disables lowercase.

I used to use MirageOS when I had an 83+, but apparently the newer OmniCalc does it too.

FYI, lowercase takes 2 bytes in BASIC programs... I used to have it enabled but then realized it wasn't work the space waste.
