Fire Track 2 for 83+
Posted by Michael on 10 January 2004, 02:16 GMT
Benjamin Ryves has released Fire Track 2, based on the original Fire Track BBC Micro game. Besides the classic gameplay, his version features an "extended" mode with randomly generated levels and powerups: EMP, laser, shield, time freezer, kamikaze, and speed. This game appears to be very well planned out in its detail, and is available in both Ion and MirageOS versions.

I know this is off topic, but I couldn't think of a better place to ask this question (unless there is a general discussion forum that I'm not aware of at this site. If there is, flame on.)
I spilled coke on my 89 recently so I've got it laying here opened up on my desk trying to clean under the keys. Right next to it is my 83+, and I'm wondering... has anybody ever tried to switch the calculator innards? That is, have any of you ever switched the cases so that you have an 89 that looks like an 83+? Did it work? Back when I was in Geometry and Algebra II my teachers would never allow us to use an 89 because of its CAS capabilites, but they never get close enough to actually see what's on the screen--especially if you're sitting in the back of the room. If one knew their way around the 89 keyboard really well, this could be an excellent way to cheat in lower math classes. :P I don't need to cheat, but I think it's a cool idea anyway.

This is on topic (for me anyway) because it concerns the TI-83+ (and now the 84+!). I am Thomas Williamson the author of that pretty "basic" language called TIPower GOLD for the TI-83, 83+ and 86. Recently I've decided to try out making another language, this time exclusively for the 83+ line, called TI-COFFEE, basically a java-type language that compiles into 83+ applications. It will include ANSI C style libraries but still be based on the class-oriented java syntax. Just letting all of you know! Any ideas or suggestions? Email me at morgythemole@hotmail.com

Nice program! It doesn't work with Plasma 1.4, though, probably because the program writes back on itself for the buffer system (Plasma streams info from flash) :(

It's hard to see and not very interesting and takes up a lot of space so it's not worth downloading.
