Fire Track 2 for 83+
Posted by Michael on 10 January 2004, 02:16 GMT

[Fire Track 2]Benjamin Ryves has released Fire Track 2, based on the original Fire Track BBC Micro game. Besides the classic gameplay, his version features an "extended" mode with randomly generated levels and powerups: EMP, laser, shield, time freezer, kamikaze, and speed. This game appears to be very well planned out in its detail, and is available in both Ion and MirageOS versions.

It's probably been in pending for a little bit. I was away from a significant internet source for 3 weeks but am back now. File uploading should finally be back to within the day.

Well done!

What is it, the official TI job?
I use my own homebrew cable - it works a treat.

It is the black link that came with my se. Actually, the broken part is the little calculator to calculator link thing. The wire broke very close to the plug. Sometimes I can wrap the wires together and get it to work, but that is very difficult. All I need to do is get to Radio Shack and buy a new plug. However, there is not a Radio Shack in my town and I don't go out of town very often.

My calc-tocalc black link broke at the tip of the connecter inside my calc. I was afraid that I would never get it out and never be able to send programs to my calc again, but I finally got it out. Down with black links!

They are easy to get out, if only you can find the right type of screwdriver. I lost the tip in there and my initial attempt (coating the end of a paperclip in Araldite then putting it into the hole in the bottom of the lost tip) failed, but the design of the calc makes it easy enough if you don't mind unscrewing it.

I would have given anything to havr that problem. On mine, instead of breaking off inside, my linkport seperated from the circut board. Well, not fully, but the first two contacts did, and it is horrible, mainly because I am without a soddering iron.

Ouch...
I don't know many people with "Soddering Irons" either!

Okay. It's spelled 'Soldiering Irons'. I think. Hopefully. Anyone want to correct me?

"Soldiering"? Related to soldiers? It's "soldering". :-)

I know right?? i was thinking the same thing... its all that 89 and 92 stuff, more "featured" progs should be made on the 83(+)

If you find a file worth featuring, send an e-mail off to news@ticalc.org.

That's what I was thinking-"finally!!! a featured non-89 prog!!!" Now they just need to feature some more 86 ones...

One: I have forgotten what the orginal game was like, but I get this vague since that I liked it a lot. Then beat it, and got rid of it. I hope this one is good.

Two: Boy am i glad that there is a new news item. I had given up o nthe other one. 300+ was just too much for ADD Man over here.

Oh, I think we've had more than that. Remember September 11th? We got a LOT on that day. And then we've had some articles with PLENTY, but most were deleted. Like that whole War and Peace thing that I missed because I was on vacation. But 400 is a lot compared to the ~100 we get on average now.
