TI-83 Plus SDK Released
Posted by Nathan on 30 October 1999, 07:17 GMT

Texas Instruments released the TI-83 Plus Software Development Kit. According to the FAQ, this allows software developers to program in Zilog Z80 assembly code. Listing technical specifications and user interface guidelines--as well as offering a "software simulator/debugger"--the SDK will allow programmers to create tight programs that are optimized and integrated with the TI-OS (presently, programmers have used incomplete, hacked TI-83 and TI-83 Plus information for programming). Available only in English, this free SDK will soon be followed by both educational and professional versions, which will allow programmers to write Flash applications which execute directly from the Flash ROM.

The OS wars are sucking up this boards life. People have an argument for everything. If one person likes Win9x, another person feels it's his right to verbally tell him/her that that OS sucks because this OTHER OS rules. I wonder what replies would be given to someone saying they preferred using ENIAC or UNIVAC over Macs, PC's, and Linux :P

LOL :-) Man and I thought we were progressing from OS/Systems that crash to ones that are more stable. Didn't the ENIAC and UNIVAC crash every 3 seconds?

What is wrong with you? What is with your language? I am only a year older than you and amazing about 500x more mature. I did not insult you, yet I am supposed to do several hideously disgusting things and not to mention that I SUCK!! I have done my best not to actually insult YOU, but I broke down a few posts up above. I apologize for insulting you but I certainly am not going to give up my position on the Mac vs PC argument.

Everyone, I have gotten off with a bad start at ticalc.org. By the time I found this site I was already about to go off about PC lovers dissing the mac so that is what all that was above. I wish some people knew what I would normaly act like. I just responded to any comment that someone said that was even remotly insulting my computers thus insulting me. People saying this make me think I made the wrong choice in computers so I really get angry at knowing that I chose them because of what I needed them for. I would like everyone to stop fighting in the platform wars. Really its what you like and you should not insult another platform just for that. About my computers my latest comment about my computers was true. I apoligize for telling people to do those "disgusting things" if they hate macs. But don't hate macs just because they are diffrent, I really have tried to help Apple as much as I can ever since 11. Now lets start talking about calculators (non insulting remarks)and SDK's thats what this message board was for, wasn't it.

P.S. Barich was that mature enough. That is how I normally talk.

Oh the cussing part is my way of expressing anger over the internet (since you can't yell). Now if only I could learn to port.

Yeah Etec, what is up with your language? Did your Daddy beat you? Do you feel that you need to release your anger on other people that COULD KICK YOUR ASS if they saw you in real life? Huh? Whats wrong, why are you so mad? Is it that whole Mac vs Windows thing (Notice I didn't say PC, because that would include Linux and BeOS which are superior OS than Windows and MacOS)?

None of that except for people fighting over which operating system is better. Read my comment above.

Oh yea another thing that got me angry is that people are saying each others calculators suck. The point of this message board was for the SDK which was announced for the 83+ which made it even worse. Thats like someone who likes rap going into a rock&roll chat and saying "rock sucks".

P.S. JUST A NOTE TO PEOPLE WHO DO NOT READ CAREFULLY I DID NOT SAY ROCK SUCKS I JUST MADE AN EXAMPLE. notice the caps so you can see it.

That is all

Too bad ti did not mention how to program link functions in z80 asm in the SDK. The number of examples are also insufficient for the things I want to program but I can see TI worked hard on that manual so I really should not complain about that. I do still stand about TI overcharging for their APP SDK. Are there any good ti 83 plus z80 asm programers out their that think they could hack ti's app header and compiler. You need it to be converted from .z80 to .app or .hex and find out their header. I hope ti decides to at least lower the price of the professional verson and not limit the amount of apps you can make.

Don't worry about it. If no else does it, I will hack it. I have a bunch of decompilers, disassemblers, hex editors and the likes. Also I don't like paying money for software, so maybe I'll just hack their server and download all the software and put it up on a site for everyone to download. Yeah I would love to see TI's face when I do that. Ha Ha Ha Ha (evil laughter continues, etc.)

I only pay money for things that I ether find worth it (not a calculator) or if I or someone else can't or will not hack it. Of course you know TI would probly try and stop people from hacking their calculator.
