TI Responds to Requests for TI-89 ASM Information
Posted by Nathan on 21 March 1999, 01:42 GMT

A letter was sent to Texas Instruments asking why the promised assembly information had not been released, and when it would be released, if at all. The response received follows.

*****,

Thank you for your e-mail.

Texas Instruments will be releasing the information on their web site. This information should be available Spring of 1999. I have listed the TI web site address below.

http://www.ti.com

If you have any further questions or comments please feel free to contact us at your convenience. Please copy this message in your response and send directly to ti-cares@ti.com for faster service on replies.

Kind regards,

John Onufreiczuk

Sorry for acting so ignorant on the subject, but don't we already have assembly for the TI-89? Doors OS and PlusShell aren't enough?

Doorsos and Plus Shell are wonderful programs, they have really opened our eyes to the potential the TI-89 has, but if TI releases the information they have promised it will expand the possibilities of the calculator even more. Simply put; the programs people have written for the TI-89 are truly great and I applaud them for what they have done. Release of information on the assembly language for the TI-89 will bennefit both the programmers and the general public who simply use the programs others have written. Take such programs as Super Mario Quest; this is a great exampe of the power of the calculator. If this is what programmers can do without the information; just think of what they could do with that information. Once again I applaud the people out there who know assembly for the TI-89 and if TI decides to release the information; I look forward to seeing the programs that will result.

as even the creator of doors said, as soon as ti releases asm info he'll be able (hopefully) to add such things as being able to run basic programs out of the doors shell. it's stuff like that that the programming community is looking to get from ti. no matter how good you are, there's only so much you can do without real information.

shell are''s and are not''s

shells aren't games, they're tools. just like windows makes it easier to use your computer than dos, so a shell makes finding and launching programs easier than from the "command line."

Where did you get your wrong information? Shells are a natural protection for animals like turtles. Windows are openings in walls thet allow you to let in fresh air. I hope this information is useful.

Yes your right BUT. We need a shell that offers more options and maybe looks nicer. Example with the info we should get from TI it should be possible to make an assembly shell that will arcive and unarcive programs when you run them so they keep your score or the place you last left off at. Then when your done with the program and exit it the calc rearcives the variable.

(I spell bad so sorry if i mispelled anything)

Hmm.... I thought DOS made Windows suck, and Windows made computers suck...

Windows may be slow and a pain but for the most part it's fairly easy to use and looks nice we need a shell that mixes the looks of Windows with a good running shell like UNIX or X windows ect. This would be great. Anyways computers dont suck.....well some don't :-)

Hi.
Well, I have a TI92, and I'm also looking for the Assembly Information.
I hope that Ti will really release the info ( like everyone ).
But when they say that it will be " availabe Spring of 1999", I'm quite disappointed, because Spring lasts until the June 21st ( if I'm not wrong ), and I don't think that Ti will release all the info before this date...
It's not a good way to deal with its costumer. Moreover, I really don't see, why they do not release the info ?!? It will only bring good things in the Ti community. Everybody will be pleased, and better programs could be made.

Maybe I'm too much idealist.

SWITCH.

Brian you have been acting quite 'dumb' lately. not to mean offense but i mean your post are...well, poor. You snapped at numerous people for no aparent reason because it is really your fault. Im sorry if this is out of line.

limits program
Mikkkeee

Hello everyone

Great now that ti claims it will release the asm info, we might get some cool asm games.

Now I am posting this message for the every programmer that knows some Ti-basic. My friends and I have been trying our best to convert this program from 85 format into an 83 format. This program finds the limit of a calculus equation. Now if anyone out there understands the basic language and is willing to convert this program please email me for a copy of the 85 format, please this program could help many people in the ti-community.

It is true: Brian is (quite) dumb.

For Bryan:
"," It is called a comma...
One exemple of utilisation:
"1999/03/21, Bryan is discovering the comma."
It is much comprehensible, isn't it?

Re: Re: TI Responds to Petition for TI-89 ASM Information
one agreeable person

I agree. Next lesson:

"." This is a period. You use periods to end a statement.

The use of capitalization:
When starting a new sentence or use a proper name, one uses a capital letter. Not in the middle of a thought or random letters in a word.

Examples:
Bad! "hi my name Is brian"
Good! "Hi, my name is Brian."

Re: Re: Re: TI Responds to Petition for TI-89 ASM Information
Grammer Fiend

This is not a sentence:
"Not in the middle of a thought or random letters in a word." There should be a comma instead of a period connecting the dependent clause to the independent clause preceeding it (and since they are connected in idea, they should have never been seperated).

How about "using" instead of "use" ("When starting a new sentence or use a proper name...")?

If you insist on making comments about poor usage of grammer, at least use it correctly yourself.

But you do have to admit that it made more sense than all of Brian's statements.

You should spell "grammatically" with a lower case "g".

You should spell "grammatically" with a lower case "g". You also forgot a period.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: TI Responds to Petition for TI-89 ASM Information
Lord of all that is Grammatically correct

First off, you don't use periods (or any punctuation for that matter) in the midst of a name. Would you sign your name, for example, "Bob" or "Bob." ? I realize that is not the proper location for the question mark, but if I had placed it in the proper location it would have destroyed my point. Secondly, if I want to spell my name with the 'g' capitalized, I can. It's my name, and if I choose to use a capital letter to a emphasize a point of great importance to the general theme of the statement being made, it's my God given right.

Are you God? I didn't think so. I have a free will, so God gave me the right to spell things how I see fit. So there!

You know what's really funny? You can't even spell grammar right. Well, at least you know how to punctuate.
