I just got a TI-83 PLUS and it rocks but no ASM progs seem to work someone help

You can't run 83asm on your ti83plus you can find the same things that your 83 had for the ti83plus.On this website goto archives and select file archive then goto 83plus files. Then click for the list assembly files.

Will the 83 plus have a Z80 processor? Also will the new ROM size bring about a prog size limit as it does with the 86?

Well since it fully compatible with the TI-83 and runs exactly like it too, I'm guessing it has a z80 processor :) Can't be sure about your second question though; I don't think we'll know that until Spring

Ti-83 Plus? Why didn't they just call it the Ti-84? This is going to create a whole other programming group for Ti-calcs. I suppose that it will be able to be programmed in assembly, too. I hope this doesn't make the Ti-83s obsolete after so many students have already purchased them just for school. (Similar to the Ti-82)
It'll be interesting to see what people think of this new calculator. I wonder if the normal Ti-83s will be able to be updated like the Ti-92s.

Well, since the TI-83 Plus is almost exactly like the TI-83, I think the TI-83+ is a good name for it. I also heard a rumor that there was going to be a TI-84 but TI quickly recalled it.. something like that.. but I dont know if there's any truth to that.

All I can say is, when does the 86 get to be Plussed??? I want Flash ROM and some more RAM, too!! Oh yeah, visit the new z80 Programming Organization for any z80 calc! It's at Xoom. Have fun programming!

I was thinking of the 89, but just stuck with my 86, I already think of my ti86 as a plus I have a turbo 86 hehe (boosted to 2-3 times)

What do you meen by boosted 2 to 3 times? More memory? if so, is there such a thing as that for the Ti-83 (non-plus)

i heard about some lucky peoples having flash ROM 86... Can someone confirm if it is true?...

Dan Eble, Bill Nagel and some other people were selected by TI to get a Flash ROM 86 early to test it for them. There is even some code left in the ROM to support the Flash ROM to verify this. I don't remember where it's at, but it will be found somewhere in the assembly-86 mail archives.

This is how Bill Nagel released those games and shells for the 86 so quickly after it was released.

Oh god!! A TI-83 Plus! And I just bought a TI-83 on New Years Eve! I agree that it should be called the TI-84, but the plus does a cool ring to it!! So, will all the calcs now have Flash ROM??

Don't complain. I bought my TI-86 one week before the TI-89 came out and I could have afforded to buy one.

Well... they're exactly not the same calculator, as TI-83 and 83+ are. I think what people are complaining about this for is because they're afraid their basic 83's will become useless now. I don't think so, the reason i'm complaining is because they release same shit over and over again.

You're the main person complaining :) I dont think TI-83's will become useless, TI says they're compatible.. I don't know if this means ASM too... but the TI-83 and TI-83+ are pretty much the same. What's wrong with a company producing lots of products? Intel released Pentium I 133, 166, 200, 233, then Pentium II 266, 300, 333.. and now they're releasing a 366?! It's GOOD that a company keeps on improving their products.

I don't think TI-83 will become useless, either. What I said was that I think many TI-83 owners will think that way. I think improving products is good, too. But maybe we don't want to see EVERY benchmark they archieve? They shouldn't offer us every test version they construct. There is basically no difference between TI-83/83+, there goes our improvements;)
And you asked what's wrong with TI making money. Nothing, but I think it's too much to throw every single thing they come up with on sales. Not that TI-83+ would be bad product, I just mean there's nothing very new to previous model. And as of intel's production line, I think it sucks. It shouldn't be so hard to do something better once, these new processors have always been only slightly better than previous ones(for the money, of course. and i think AMD etc. keeps it same way because they want to share the sales, if they'd be doing some 1000Mhz development, they wouldn't be able to release these products now, and they'd fell out of the market)...

As for your question about why they bothered to release the TI-83: they didn't PLAN to have a Plus version when the released the regular version. Without the regular version released, TI wouldn't have known what needs improvement, so there would be nothing to "plus" If they hadn't "thrown it up on sales" then they wouldn't have gotten customer feedback which told them to make the changes.

Of course I know this, but they when there's nothing they can do to those "old buggy TI-83's" shoudln't they be wasting their time to new versions instead of redoing old? What do TI-83 owners get when TI releases TI-83+ ? How does that affect TI-83 users? It doesn't help them at all. If there's really very bad bugs or desperate need for some new feature in TI-83, why couldn't they only put a new plain ROM in upcoming versions of TI-83, or are they past that?

Switch 83 and 82 and you have the facts. You can only send lists from the 83 to the 82.
