They aren't mature enough to handle the power of a graphing calculator. They still giggle when you say "I flashed my program the other day."

I got my 86 for my thirtennth birthday. However, I never really used it until long after my forteenth birthday.

OK I takeoffense to that because I take algebra and they are required, and believe it or not I know how to use them very well. So before you insult me, think about it.

I'm a Senior in High School and I take Advanced Placement Calculus AB.

"Luxury! I was still in the womb, a born-again-Christian, back when Algebra was invented by the Arabs, fighting for survival from the Muslims while trying to figure out what an area was! Talk about graphing calculators! Talk about abaci! We had to do it all on our fingers! Luxury!"

Sophmore in HS taking Algebra II/Trigonometry Honors AND Geometry Honors. I suppose I'll have a blast in Calculus.

I am sorry to ruin your pleasure guys ;however, there are people at my HS who are sophomores taking CalcBC, and juniors taking Linear Algebra and Calc III. I hope that this would satisfy your egocentric nature.

Actually, I had no egocentric neture when posting MY post (can't speak for everyone else), but I'd say that after a year with two honors math classes, I'm going to have REAL fun in my pre-cal class. Fun like: spending too much time figuring out a problem! Trying to understand what's going on! and so much more.
