Actually, level 3, I thought, was easier than level 2.  Maybe that's because I've programmed in JS for a really long time and I know all the common "password protection" tricks.  Haven't beaten level 9 yet, but I think I'm pretty close.  I got part of it down, at least.
  
IMO, in try2hack, the first five levels are easy.  After that, it starts to get hard.
  
BTW- to all you Java programmers, you'll like level 4 ;-)
