That was smart. You're right, it would be a lot harder to convert it the other way. Well, not necessarily. Uppercase letters = letter value (a=1, b=2, ...) plus 64. Lowercase letters = letter value plus 96. Numbers, I believe, are number plus 48.
Easier way to remember that (for binary) is
Number = 001 + [five-digit numbAr code] (well, it's really four, but let's not be too technical)
Upper = 010 + [five-digit letter code]
Lower = 011 + [five-digit letter code]
That makes things easier to convert ASCII to some base (2, 10, 16, whatever). So, if the calc program could recognize that...
Eh, you know what? You're right, it's still too much work. TI-BASIC isn't flexible enough for something like that.
