i like it the poll. i'm not really surprised by the lack of women (i think no one is) but i'm very surprised by the huge ratio... would have thought there to be a bit more ladies then that. looks like i won't be picking up many chicks on ticalc.org <jk>

When I decided to work at ticalc.org, I did it as a vehicle to pick up girls.

<dramatization>
"Hey, baby... *pause* I work at a web site.... *longer pause* FOR CALCULATORS!@*#()&@(#*@!"
"Oh my god, can we make love as soon as possible?"
</dramatization>

It didn't seem to work. Maybe I'm just not "macho" enough. :)

LOL

The problem is that you're not a reviewer. Chicks *love* the reviewers. You should take a cue from Eric. Girls are hanging on him coats on a coatrack. ("Oh Eric, I just *love* what you think of Zcart. By the way, I'm not wearing any underwear.")

If the count of women breaks double-digits, I would be suprised. I'm not trying to be sterotypical, but for MOST (Notice, I did not say all) women, technical stuff doesn't seem very attractive to them. I guess us nerdy men will have to live our lives alone!

mostly games is the cause...

I's say its not so much technical stuff, mostly just not caring about proggies on calcs... in case you haven't noticed look at the ratio on computer or consule games. It's mostly male. Females probably only get graphing calculators anyway, since their math teacher says they have too and they really don't care about them (most at least, some do)

Girls with games
jamin  Account Info

I have observed that many girls in science and math classes have and know how to use games on their calculators. Girls that I have encountered usually get programs from other calculators with a link cable but do not get them off of the internet.
However, girls along with many of their male classmates do not know how to: use a matrix editor, the poly equation solver (or know that it even exists), graph anything...
with out asking a teacher or calculator nerd like me for help.

Yup... A few weeks after I load games onto someone's calc they ask me how to delete them since they don't want to waste any more time on them...

I actually got better grades when I played games on my calc(s) last year in school.

This Year I'm a Graduate and work full time.
I do a little programming on the side, and web design.

I happen to maintain a 4.0 when I rarely pay attention in math, and play games on my 83 or 89.

same here

I have all 4.0s and play calc games about 25% of the time at school. I have had a drop in math though (you know 999/1000 to 967/1000 :). In other classes being bored by lectures and not playing games has dropped my grade :0

Really, good point. Maybe it's just because the girls are surfing Ti-Files. Wait...nobody surfs Ti-files!

I know this is unrelated but I have this friend who wants games on his 83+ but when I try to run the assembly shell (ion) I get a syntax error. How do I fix that? I know this is unrelated.

Check if it's Ion for the Ti83. Ti83 assembly games don't work on the ti83+.

That's because most girls while in high school aren't very technically oriented. They like things like sports, going to parties, dating, etc. Things most normal guys should like to do in high school. But then there's the few of us who while in high school sat on the computer way too much and didn't pay attention to more important things. <sigh>

There seem to be a lot more technically oriented girls in college than in high school, however.
