Am I the only one on this Planet who owns only one Graphing Calculator? I`m saving up for a TI-86, Does anyone know where I can get a good one cheap? Also can anyone help me do some Advanced programming in Basic (for my TI-82)? So far the most advanced program I have made is making an X move across the screen. How do I add a gun onto something in my games? To give you an idea of how far behind I am at programming I will admit that I am the one behind such trash as the unbelivably horrible game of "BeerQuest 2" (Avalable at www.TI-Files.com). Can anyone help me? E-Mail to Cbm5000@aol.com.

You might find some good offers for used calculators at www.ebay.com

You can get some cheap at this site, in the buy and sell section. Also check out eBay. You'll save some money if you buy one w/o a manual, but I would recommend against that. You can reuse your 82's calc-calc link though.

Alternatively, Target is selling them for $109, about $21 less than I a paid for mine (2 years ago though)

Hmmm... More reasons to buy a 89 over a 92
Sigmatic  Account Info

Well, here are my reasons why to buy a TI-89, as opposed to its older, though more complex,"competitor", the TI-92.

-TI-89 is PORTABLE
-TI-89 is able to be used on AP Exams and the SATs
-TI-92 is neither of the above
-TI-89 is _usually_ an acceptable calculator to use at school (every prof./teach I have lets me use it)
-TI-89 will soon have the Geometric functions that only the TI-92 has now, making the 89 almost exactly the same as the 92
-People tend to stop using their 92s shortly after they buy them

Please provide your constructive comments on what I have written, and correct me if I am wrong!

OH, I agree completely. I think that the 92\92+ is made for those who sit at home and need a very complex calculator on there desk, plus the money you spend on the 92 could purchase a TI-89 AND a TI-82.

Who are the 2 people who come to a TI calc website and vote in a survey thereon, but own no TI calculator?

I own a ti-89 and I really like it. I am going to buy
either an 86 or a 92. Does anyone have some input to which one I should buy?

If you have a chioce between 86 and 92 I STRONGLY suggest the 86. Here are a few reasons. . .
1. The TI-92 is rarely allowed in the classroom.
2. The TI-92 is NOT portable or cost efficient.
3. The 86 is portable, cost effective, AND is useable.
4. It is more likely that the TI-86 will be around longer because (I think) more people purchase these.
5. The TI-86 is more compatable with other calcs than the TI-92. EXAMPLE: The 86 can run all 85 programs which using a program called "translate" can run 82 programs which can run most 83 programs (meaning that the TI-86 can run programs of the TI-85, 82, and some 83 using "translate"). The 92 & 92+ can run 92 and only 92 programs (To my knowlage).
Or, if you decide to get a 92, at least get a TI-92+, you might as well get the extras for the little added price.
Tell me if I`m wrong!

Am I the only one that has a 92 and actually likes it? fortunately for me, all my teachers let me use it, and it has that nice qwerty keyboard, perfect for writing BASIC (in every other calculator, except the 80 and 81, you can write basic on a computer keyboard and transfer it to the calc with graph link), but then again, are you gonna lug a laptop around with you and transfer programs to your calculator, or are you gonna use a man's calc... (compared to the 80 I have... hehehe) I'm gonna have to get the plus module soon, very soon.

I like my 92plus alot I didn't really like the amount of memory on the 92 so I plused it. And yeah that qwerty keyboard is very good its takes a year to write one sentnece on the other ti calcs. and also good for me that all my teachers let me use it in every class either they're too stupid to know how great it is or they're really smart and know that it has the same software as the 89 which they allow well either way and any way my 92plus is my favorite of all the ti calcs.

the keyboard shoulda been just a little bigger, but that would make the calculator bigger, also. in a related story, I can stuff my 92 in my front jeans pocket (now that's some big pockets)

My teachers never got on my case about the 92, except that one of my math teachers jokes about me playing games from time to time.. besides, that class only has ti 82's and... 81's!!!! those are some old calculators

I carry my 80 around with me everywhere, because you never know when the arithmitically challenged (like me) will need to do some math!

if this post is too long and you'd like me to shut up, please press 1. (beep) thank you.

<If you have a chioce between 86 and 92 I STRONGLY suggest the 86. Here are a few <reasons. . .

I don't know about where you live, but over here there has never been a teacher that hasn't allowed the 92 in thier room
<2. The TI-92 is NOT portable or cost efficient.
portable? I can stick a 92 in my pocket if I wanted to!... but, It usually fits nicely in my backpack. cost efficient? well, it has everything you could possibly want, including geometry which is sadly missing on the 89 true, the price is high, but it's for those that demand the ultamite preformance.
<3. The 86 is portable, cost effective, AND is useable.
by this, I'm assuming you're saying the 92 isn't usable. how do you define usable anyway? do you mean that the teachers won't let you use it, or it's just too complicated?
<4. It is more likely that the TI-86 will be around longer because (I think) more <people purchase these.
true, unfortunately. the office max around here has every ti graphing calc except the 81 (duh) and the 92, or 92+
< 5. The TI-86 is more compatable with other calcs than the TI-92. EXAMPLE: The 86 <can run all 85 programs

definitly true. I got a 92 for $200 just a few weeks before the 92 dropped in price and the 92+ took it's place. I'm probably gonna get the +module really soon, along with a 83+ and 96, or maybe they'll make a 86+

< Tell me if I`m wrong!
I just did :P

Currently have five that were accumulated over the years, starting in 1995 with a TI-85. Also have three TI scientific calculators, all predating the TI-85, starting with a TI-58 acquired in 1979. They all still work. Battery packs for the TI-58 are being rebuilt to allow NiCd AA cell replacement as needed.

Right now, I only own a TI-83. I would like another calculator, but I'm not sure which one to buy. I plan to take several calculus and statistics classes at college. Any advice?
