New folders in the archives
Posted by Niklas on 3 August 2002, 17:08 GMT

With the release of the Voyage 200 (or rather some comments on your uploaded files) it is high time for some new folders in our archives. The big one is of course the entire V200 tree - basically a copy of the TI-92 Plus tree - but there are also some smaller ones that have been requested:

Other folders will appear in the near future, such as Media for all calculator models. Comments and suggestions are very welcome.

Update (Niklas): Before you upload V200 files that are simply copies of existing TI-89 or TI-92 Plus ones, please consider requesting a simple link from the existing files by emailing the filearchiver. It will be processed just as fast (faster if pending is full), it will save space on the ticalc.org server, and you will only have to update one file in our archives in the future.

If you want to be illegal, then you can get the VTI ROM, but I wouldn't suggest doing that. lol ;-)

If it hadn't been for the 89 ROM I downloaded, I never would have bought an 89. I think TI should look into that... I also have a 92+ ROM for testing games I write, and I can't wait for VTi to support the V200.

or maybe OS 1.14+ rom dump support for 83+...unfortunately it doesn't look like Rusty is going to work on VTI and further.

That makes me think...VTI doesn't even work on my computer! After I "put" the ROM in the calc with their wizard thingy, I couldn't turn it on or anything :( I guess I'll just have to do as RCTParRoThEaD_ once said and 'take a hammer to it'...

Well, (to the comment above) I didn't really MAKE the game. Chickendude made the game for the TI-83. I liked it so much that I re-wrote it for the TI-89 in C. I tried to keep it as similar to the TI-83 version as possible, except for I forgot to disable Auto-Interrupt 1, so the 2nd/alpha/diamond/shift keys all display the annoying thing at the bottom, ruining the game. I'll have to fix that.

Just to complain but if you go to www.ticalc.org/pub/ I see that there are amiga, atari, beos, dos, mac, text, and Unix files before the v200 folder, this is awkward. Shouldn't all calc folders be listed before the computer folders?

They're listed alphabetically like every thing else, the V200 is the first TI graphing calc that doesn't start with TI

If there is anyone out there who programs in C++, where did you get your compiler? Is there a different one for calcs and computers. If so, I'm looking for the one for computers, particularly one called CodeWarrior. I can't find the download, if there is one but I have seen a price of $600!!!If anyone can help me find a compiler, I'd really appreciate it.(sorry since this is really off subject)

That's okay (about being off-topic).
It's not too hard to find some free C++ compilers. Just go to google.com and try different searches. Something will be bound to come up, such as Bloodshed Dev-C++, or some others.

I got CodeWarrior Pro through my school for $90, and I have Visual Studio 6 as payment for a project I did that Microsoft sponsered, I also got Win2000 free.

BTW, if you're interested in programming C for calculators, you can download the TI-SDK created by Texas Instruments, or you can download the far-superior TIGCC here at ticalc.org or tigcc.ticalc.org.

Do you know where I can get Visual Studio 6 or CodeWarrior for considerably less prices or if possible, for free. I obviously don't know much about this stuff and am learning. Right know I'm learning visual basic 6. I'm assuming visual studio will let me compile programs for that. If anyone can offer any information, it would really help!!!

if you're in university or some sort of educational facility you may ask them whther they sell software for educational prices. for example, in the university i go to they have special contract with MS and sell their software for $5 per CD included. So, visual studio costs around $25 or so. this is a very nice oppurtunity to get a legal full working software for very cheap. i think my high school also had some sort of educational discounts but not as good as in the university.
