Voyage 200 PLT Announced
Posted by Eric on 7 January 2002, 18:47 GMT
TI has announced Voyage 200, a new calculating device they're calling a "Personal Learning Tool" (PLT). The device is similar to the TI-92+ and contains all its features, including a QWERTY keyboard. It also includes a funky new design and a 2.7MB ROM. It'll go for around $200 (includes a Graph Link) and will be out in time for back-to-school season. Check the page for more information or view the specifications. Update: (Nathan): Okay, okay, so it's been announced and not yet released. Boy, some of you people are picky! :)

What I don't understand is that most people don't like the TI-92+ as it is. I can't possibly think that it will sell well. Why would TI try to create something that people seem to have no interest for?
I like my TI-92+ just as it is. I think this is the wrong move for TI.

You can always hack it... just how much time, money, and skill you wish to spend on it. Nothing is perfect, and provided adaquate time is given, all things can be hacked.
I myself will do not plan to get one, i did get the SE and put it in a normal 83+ case... My curretn calc list is: 80, 81, 82 (old case version), 83+, 83+ SE, 85, 86, 89 (HW1), 89 (HW2), and 92+ (HW2).

UGH. I'm one of the first ones to email TI to put this article up on their website, after I saw it on calc.org. GO to calc.org, and see my article. TI is a bunch of losers. Either you make a calculator or a palm pilot. THe voyager is more of a palmpilot, but with buttons. and a stupid question, if they made icons, why can't they just include a stylus? I mean, its so much more logical....
I really hope there is a new TI-89 AMS version coming out soon, with more features. God damn TI, they take forever to make a new one.
btw-my screen is pretty screatched up, is there anyway I can replace the screen? Maybe go to staples, and switch screens or something? I'm not sure, but an answer would be nice.
Also, I think the 89/92 is the best combo. The 83+ is good if you're a cheap kid who can't afford anything, and needs a calculator.

hehe...my bad, yeah, TI-Calc. heh, sorry.
I want them to add functions to the TI-89, like maybe a good 2mb, and easier connectivity to your computer. Also, a rechargable battery is a must in the next calculator. In addition, the new TI-89's **must** have easier organization for its menus. Sometimes I don't even see some of the menus because they're hidden underneath the 6 and 7 buttons.
Whoever posted about the stylus and the scratched up screen. Seems like you don't know anything about palmpilot styli. If you really wanted, I can show you a new kind of stylus I recently acquired that is must softer than the original which does not scratch up the screen. Way to use information to help you in your posts there buddy.
About emailing TI with the dirty/scratched screen. Is it possible that I take apart the TI-89 with the screws, and clean the screen? Some feedback would be nice.

PS. Shows how much you cant file a valuable debate by telling me to go to a palm pilot website to talk on their forums rather than TI's. It shows that you can't prove your point that Palms are better than TI's, and you're trying to push me away rather than deal with the fact.

they arent used in different situations. THink about it. On the calc., we have scheduler programs (TI-89) to organize our classes, and we all are hoping for the new AMS version because of a clock. There are i'm sure programs on the 89 that let you store peoples numbers. On the palm, its the same thing, we need half of the time a calculator and the other time a phone number. And you say to go to a palm website and discuss this. Well, if TI is merging their voyager into a palm pilot, am I supposed to keep my mouth shut? No, I don't think so. The voyager is a cheap cut down version of the palm. So don't tell me to go wherever, I can make that decision on my own.
BTW, I have changed my name underneath.

Alex Block: No offense, but we don't need an 'informational text' about TI-92+ error numbers, since the only people who would use them are 92+ owners and the error numbers are *listed* in the instruction manual.
