DoorsOS II v0.9
Posted by Nick on 25 December 1999, 04:01 GMT

Xavier Vassor and Cedric Couffignal have released an upgrade to their fantastic new shell, DoorsOS. DoorsOS II v0.9 has been released for the 89 and the 92 Plus. This works on ALL ROM versions, including AMS v2.03! Hardware v2.00 calculators may still have problems, though. Libraries cannot be archived anymore. For AMS v2.0x, you can execute ASM programs larger than 8kb using the included run() program. There is also a developer version of DoorsOS that you can snag for the 89 and the 92 Plus. Doors Explorer v2.0 is also available for the 89 and the 92 Plus. Enjoy this wonderful Christmas gift from the Doors Team and ticalc.org! You can view the home page of DoorsOS here.

Update (Nick): Xavier just updated his version of DoorsOS with v0.92. It fixes some problems that AMS v2.03 users could be having with it. People running AMS v2.03 on their calcs should download this fix ASAP. The links above still work for it. :)

This is cool a new shell to run my new game. Speaking of my new game it has been submitted to ticalc over a week ago and is still in the queue. Do I have to be in the news to get a new program in the arhives now?

shs

I did not have any luck with the new OS!!! I have AMS 2.03, and When I ran small (<8kb) programs from the home screen, it said "....or EXEC or APAP string too long", or something similar to this.

When I tried to run Doors explorer, the calculator reached an adress error, and we all know how much fun these are :~)

Finally, when using the "run" command, I would type in:
run(games\jezzball) and even tried run(games\jezzball()) (Jezzball was made for v.2.03)
But it gave the error: invalid program reference or
error: non-algebraic variable

Let me know if this works out for you guys!!

I havn't tried "run" yet, but "launch needed the argument to be in quoetes. Tried "run("jezzball")?

All games must be ported first. The docs tell you how.

I might be wrong, but I think that programs that were not ported to DoorsOS II still work with AMS 1.0x.

oh yes, I think one of the major parts that makes this newsworthy is the fact that 92+ users will now be able to use games on their 2.03 calcs. From what i read on the boards they didn't have a launch() program.

What about the grayscale fixes that have just been released? Do us hw2 users still need to replace the graphlib and gray4lib files, or is that not necessary with DoorsOS II?

I think the new libraries are still necessary!

I tried to run DoorsOS on my calculator and as a result I had to reset it five times in the last 30 minutes. Whenever I try to run the Doors Explorer the calculator freezes (I use run("doors") ).
I'm so pissed off at TI because of the 8k limit that I'm probably going to buy an HP49G. Or should I get an HP48GX (chaeper, memory cards, more software, no build-in CAS, slow, ...).

Why is everyone using that dumb "run" program? Just use SHIFT-ON like before and it should run just great. Also if you are still having problems its cause you got a Hardware Version 2 calc :P

I have a hardware version 1 calc. I know that because it came with AMS 1.00, it supports grayscale, does not display hardware version 2.0 in the about window, and because I got it last year (they did not have HW2 calcs in 1998).

I'm gonna post a B-I-G update on Jan 1, 2000 that will shock the entire TI community... Oh wait never mind, I'm not.

I'm just gonna release a few progs that will (hopefully) be of some use to programmers!

Do not get the HP49G. Anything else is better.
