GB68k: Gameboy Emulator for 68k Calcs
Posted by Michael on 13 May 2005, 17:12 GMT
The idea has been floating around for years, but Ben Ingram is now the first person to implement a Nintendo Gameboy emulator that runs on the 89, 92+, and Voyage 200. GB68k is still under development, but so far features partial emulation of the Gameboy and its features, enough to get some games to work. I'm not very familiar with the innards of a Gameboy, but the readme lists specifically what is not yet emulated (things such as "Real time clock on MBC3" and "Sprite priority behind background layer"). This wonderful program reminds me of Tezxas, the ZX Spectrum emulator.

Well...it's 7.5.2 now (a free download at Apple's website). Is Linux truely better for an LC III than Mac OS, given the environment? I mean, the LC III is pretty pathetic: it runs at 25 MHz on a Motorola 68030 chip (it can be overclocked to 33 MHz), and mine lacks an FPU (although there is a slot for one). I'm not sure how much RAM it has (the RAM chip doesn't say, but the maximum capacity is only 36 MB), and it only has 80 MB of space on it's hard disk. I don't have a CD drive for it (no USB ports, not even by an expansion card), I can't get it to access my LAN (although it has an Ethernet card), and I don't have a modem for it. The only way I was able to get ANYTHING on it was by using a tool called TransMac, which reads/writes Mac files to Mac-formatted disks using a PC. Is it even possible for ANY OS to run on it aside from Apple's out-dated OSs?

This is a great program! I used v 0.3.1 and it emulated Final Fantasy great! I hope it can get a bit faster and less bugs (Links Awakening is wierd; If you walk east after you leave Marins House, it crashes. By walking east, I mean to the next map, not 1 pixel.)
Has anyone played Pokemon Blue? Are there any problems with it? Is it too slow?

I downloaded this and can't get it to work. I open it in the command prompt and then put the path to the converter and it says "ERROR: bad args". understandable, then i put the path in and type in CartConverter FFL.gb FFL and it says the whole thing is not an internal or external command. This is frusterating. I tried it a million different ways. What am i doing wrong. :(
