Corridor 99 Demo Released
Posted by Michael on 9 April 2005, 08:00 GMT

[Corridor 99]Jeff Wilcox has released Corridor 99 v1.1, a first-person shooter that seems to have a plot and structure similar to that of Doom (at least to me). Corridor 99, for the 89/92+/V200, uses the FAT-Engine that has powered so many of these amazing 3-D games. Please note that Corridor has not been tested on a TI-89 Titanium and that it is labelled as a "demo version."

Drat. This is no good.

I played corridor 92, and this looks like a good game, but from the user comments here, i still need more ram than i'd like to have to keep open. (I only have 16500 bytes free).

When are the programmers going to realize that we all have savegame files that MUST be kept in ram etc. and start shaving a few bytes off ram usage? It shouldn't be too hard to shave off just a few kb.

Put simply: TOO BIG!!!

If you archive your save files or any files you want to keep then you should have enough RAM. But you do need to ditch your Flash Apps if you have any. What calc are you using? AMS?

There is a way I could seriously reduce the amount of RAM needed, but didn't have the time, and didn't want to delay this release any longer... That's really why I call this a demo release. Not only is it missing 30 of the levels and two bosses, but also because it isn't as memory efficient as I wanted it to be.

In any case, when I release the 20-level version, it should require somewhere between 1/2 and 3/4 of what it needs now in terms of RAM.

Is this game Nostub ( the new version) meaning do i need do download ANYTHING before playing this game (like kernel, preOS, ghostbuster etc), it would be nice if it is. I have a Ti 89 titanium and would just like to say to the ti community as a new member here that don't underrepresent 89ti, all the students i know of have 89 ti and i am a High School Sophomore.

I never tested the game on a real Titanium... but other people have, and I can guarentee it is possible to run it.

Elsewhere I posted the approximate memory requirements.

Ultimately, I need to reduce the amount of memory required. It is possible, but will take some serious re-wiring of the way graphics are loaded.

I tested this game and it is *awesome*. It remembers me when I used to play a Wolfenstein 3D-like called 'Blake Stone' ;)

However, I think the constrast is too light :(

By the way, keep going!

Thanks.

Yeah it was inspired by several different oldschool games.

The contrast is up to you. Go to the options menu and cursor down to contrast, hit the left or right buttons to darken or lighten the screen.
