Corridor 99 Demo Released
Posted by Michael on 9 April 2005, 08:00 GMT

[Corridor 99]Jeff Wilcox has released Corridor 99 v1.1, a first-person shooter that seems to have a plot and structure similar to that of Doom (at least to me). Corridor 99, for the 89/92+/V200, uses the FAT-Engine that has powered so many of these amazing 3-D games. Please note that Corridor has not been tested on a TI-89 Titanium and that it is labelled as a "demo version."

I have a similar Ram problem on my 84+. I used to be abler to run Gemini but now I can't. Even if i clear my ram i don't have enough ram free for Mirage OS to unarhive and run it. Any suggestions?

Even though you cleared your RAM, archived stuff can take up space in the RAM too, if you have many archived programs, lists, etc, you may need to delete them. That should work.. its what I had to do.. I used Omnicalc's virtual calculator to run it.. That was the only thing on the calculator.

Great graphics, although I can't see them too well =) because the game sets the contrast really low.....Anyone know why?

The default contrast setting isn't always the one you want to use, and is usually too dark. If you go to OPTIONS, you can customize your contrast level.

Also, about memory:
On my test calculators, here are my RAM stats:

Ti89 193792 bytes free
Ti92+ 189310 bytes free
V200 187956 bytes free

Sorry about the heavy RAM requirements. There is a way to cut the RAM required in half, but it'll require me to overhaul the graphics database, and I won't have the time for a while.

Would it be possible to remove the map/radar half/third part of the screen and make it small enough to run on the 83/84? Also, what is the cheapest calc that this is the right size to run on?

I have often thought of porting a lesser version of the game engine over to the Ti83+ and its compatibles by using the Gemini engine. I'm sure it would be possible, but once again, I am completely out of time these days. But who knows?

The gemini engine doesn't support grayscale.
Good idea, though.

Does the ti83 support grayscale at all? I didn't think it did. C99 on the ti83 would be full monochrome, and this would also greatly reduce the size of the graphics database. I'd also probably remove the cinematics, and go with text only.

It does. Just only a few colors.

Lol, on the 83+ you can have grayscale, even in BASIC!!! You need Omnicalc though...

I am wondering if this could be doable on a 83+ (As a flash app)? Maybe they could do it SE only

The problem is that z88dk sucks so badly that you'd probably have to learn Z80 ASM to port something like Corridor 99 to the Z80 calculators.

Cheapest is a regular old ti-89. But you really shouldn't spend 120-150 dollars on a new calc just to play a game. If you want to play games, save the money and buy a PSP. Calc games shouldn't be the basis of buying new calcs, though they are fun to play if you have the calc already.

Took awhile, but I'm glad to see this released in my lifetime. Well worth the wait.

You and me both! For a while there, my job was taking up my entire day, my old C99 website went down and was gone forever, and I was about to start one of the most time-consuming training programs in the US.

Had to release this sucker while the going was... well sorta good. :)

I need some help getting this to run on my 89Ti. I patched the ppg with GB, archived everything and deleted my apps. If I don't archive everything it tells me I need more RAM, which tells me it works somewhat. However, when I have enough RAM it puts a blank black bar on the top of the screen just big enough to cover up F1,F2,F2... on the menus. Any help would be appreciated.

Personally, I don't (and never will) have a TI-89T... I don't like things that aren't compatible or stable lol.

However, your problem should be simple to fix. I have heard of many programs that supposedly fix your home screen automatically if an ASM program messes it up. Just try browsing through some of the ticalc archives. Even kerno might be able to fix this.

Hope I helped...

A new version was uploaded yesterday that removed the need to use Ghost Buster. Let me know if it still does not work. Also, how much RAM did you have free before started the program?

It does the same thing. My RAM is somewhere around 190000, it varies. Why, I don't know. I'll mess around with it and get back to you if I recieve different results.
