Kirby's Quest v1.05
Posted by Michael on 4 March 2005, 05:08 GMT
Kirby's Quest is an 89 game similar to Kirby's Dreamland 1 and 2. This side-scrolling game features five types of enemies and a PC level editor. In the most basic sense, it is like Mario. The most important aspect of the game is that the author lists 130 KB of free RAM required in order to prevent crashes because "some levels are large."
Update: Version 1.06 has now been released. This includes a bug fix and 92+/V200 versions.
Update: Now version 1.08 is out.

130K of free RAM, eh? That is not hard to do really. Of course, I do not put more than can fit into archive game wise on my calc. Maybe I am different in that respect.
As far as the game goes, Kudos. Really a great job.

I have only 109k, I don't think it's easy to get 130k space, I don't want to delete anything that is supposed to do with math. On my main folder, I have the calculus, math1, math2, math3, science1, science2, science3, tiinfo, and zzconfig. I don't know if any of these are important or not. Can someone tell me? Thanks.

This version has a little Bug btw, when you fly and get hurt Kirby behaves like he had just eaten an enemy. I've uploaded already the fixed version 1.06, that has also 3 more enemies for the editor.
Oh and the game has not 5 basic enemie types but 5 types of powers Kirby can mimic. It has like 25 enemies I think.

I have only played the first two levels so far, but my first impression is: This is the best jump'n run game for 68k-calcs so far (or, at least, the best one running on a Titanium).
With the level editor, this could become a classic like Mario for the Z80's
130k free ram is not really a problem for me. Just archive stuff.
