A Pretty Perplexing Plethora of Perspicacious Programs
Posted by Nick on 22 October 1999, 00:31 GMT

A bevy of programs has been released under Ion (AGAIN!) for the 83 and 83 Plus in the past day or so by Sam Heald of Void Productions.

In no logical order:

FrAWgGuts v1.0: This game is not unlike the classic Frogger for the old Atari systems. You need to navigate a frog across a busy highway and onto a safe lilypad. You can download it for the 83 and 83 Plus.

Z-Kart 3D v1.0: This game is a port of the classic Z-Kart 3D game for the 85. Download it for the 83 and 83 Plus.

Z-Kart v1.0: This game is like Z-Kart 3D, except... uh, less 3-D :) It's featured in the screenshot above. You can snag this for the 83 and 83 Plus.

Picross v1.0: My personal favorite, this game is ported from the game by Andreas Ess. You need to form a predetermined picture in a limited amount of time using logic. 83 and 83 Plus versions exist.

Pac-Man '99 v0.5: This game is... well, Pac-Man. I don't think I need to elaborate further. 83 and 83 Plus.

Galaxian v1.0: Galaxian is a game like Space Invaders and Phoenix. Get it here for the 83 and 83 Plus.

*phew* :)

Plain Jump For 83+?

I really liked to see that some more ports came out for the 83+, can't wait till the next batch comes out.

I know that yall programmers are probably getting tired of hearing this but, oh well. Is there anybody out there porting plain jump for the 83+?? Im just curious, because I saw it on a friends ti-83 calculator and it looked pretty cool. Or is it not possible to convert it so that it will work for the 83+?

Just cruious,
Jonathan Taylor

Too bad too many people seem to think so, and I don't think I need to mention the recent faisco to say why so many think so.

The 83+ isn't that bad. My nephew owns one, and it does it's job pretty well. While I prefer my handy dandy 86 to get the job done (as well as play from the many choices of games), its better he use an 83+ and have at least SOME games to get him through the day than use one of em casios :P

PS: I think porters should take a break from porting all those games to the 83+, so that way there's no chance the 83+ will have more games than the 86, and I won't lose my bragging rights over many fellow classmates :P

on that ps you would still probably have bragging rights.Just use YAS(Yet Another Shell) and play most 82 and 85 games and still have your 86 games woo hooo that was fun when I used my 86 in class.Maybe some one should make 8x emulation for the 89 even though they would have to slow it down.

emulation of other calcs isn't safe as I've learned when using shells (especially when its 82 games). One time I used ASE to play Lotus and it froze my calc severely and had to wait forever for it to be fixed (even when taking the batteries out). I haven't tried YAS though, does it do 82 emulation a little more stable? :P

PS: this is not like a dictator-like demand so don't get mad, but I'd really like to see a lotus port on the 86 :P

PPS: my 89 is comin in a weeks time! wohooo

Someone should make an emulator for the ti 83 games to work on the 83+. Assembly of course. Then there would be no need for ports. Programers can get a break and if they want to spend more time creating instead of tranlating. Hey that rhymes, I think. Programers take more joy creating that porting, at least me if I could only learn asm faster. I can't even get text displaying to work All I can do is make a pause and clear the screen. Can anyone tell me what commands I need and where to put them.
