Kirk Meyer ends his TI programming career
Posted on 24 October 1998, 20:43 GMT

I, Kirk Meyer, have permanently retired from all coding of calculators and computers. Some great changes have happened in my life such that these items are no longer at the top of my list, and never will be again. With that in mind, I will be releasing most, if not all, of my source code to the public. Note that I will attempt to finish Cymbol because I realize how many people need it. Realize that this does not mean that I will retire from the staff here; I hope to continue to work for ticalc.org at least through the end of high school. I will be revising my web page soon to reflect these changes and give you some more information.

Farewell...
Dacali

I know there have been MANY posts on this subject. I have a few words to add to that.

Good luck to Kirk Meyer, and any other programmers out there. You've made many useful (and fun) programs.

And a side note to Richard Lewis. Good luck to you too on the x86 programming. I bet you'll find it's more fun to program because:

1. More people can use it.
2. There aren't as many limitations
3. You have COLOR!
4. And last but not least, you can get paid :)

Re: Kirk Meyer is trying to go out on top

Hey guys,

Haven't you realized that when someone is good at something, they have to stop at somepoint. For most, that somepoint is on top (for example - James Dean, President Kennedy, Michael Jorday - but he came back). Kirk is on top of his game; probably one of the top 5 ti-calculator programers IN THE WORLD. That says something there. All he can do now is go down, so why would he want to do that? Besides, I feel he might feel like his skills aren't as appreciated as they once were. Instead of praising his ability, we bug him asking "When's Monopoly comming out?"
Good luck Kirk, we'll miss you. But don't give up progaraming forever. Just give it up untill you find enjoyment in it again, and then just do it for yourself, at a less hectic pace. Later.

What the h*ll is wrong with you people. Kirk Meyer has no obligation whatsoever to all of you. The fact that he gave up so much of his time to make the programs he has should merit our admiration, not our criticism. So here's 4 words for you: get off his back.

CALM DOWN!
E

Or maybe he got a LIFE (no offense, kirk) Unlike some of you retards who are obsessed with chunks of chips. That's not to say that I don't like calc games, but really! GET A GRIP!!!!!
Have you ever done something as a hobby that grew tiresome after awhile? and even if you were really good, you stopped because it wasn't fun anymore. Give the guy a break! It's his life. If you can't kick the calc habit, (don't you love alliteration) then learn asm yourself.

PS. to the ticalc crew: you should change the subdir "asm" to something else so it doesn't say "ticalc.org/asm".

Kirk Meyer do you even think you will..................
Chris

hmmmm. Hey kirk...your only 16. hopefully your still in high school...Why do say your going to quit Programing. Well I think your just kidding your self. You will make another game or program. I think your just bored with the calc. Take up c++ or something else. Oh well keep it cool. btw why don't you say you going to take a vaction from ti calcs for a year. and not say your going to retire

Here's my thoughts on the subject. If I were Kirk, after seeing all of these replys, I definately wouldn't come back and program anything for these people.
