I agree completely. There's so much crap loating these boards and it's just wasting valuable space that could be used better in my TEMP diretory. I don't want to have to wait 15-20 minutes (like I had to do a couple of times in the past) or not vere be able to load it (like what happened to me when the Anarchy trial went on and I tried to discuss it). Pray to whatever gods you believe in (me, I'm gonna sacrifice an unworth Casio Calc to the Technodemon inside my computer) and hope they grant TICalc.org the sanctity it deserves.

But the comment boards are viewed by many people, and serve as a pretty good place for various new ideas and such. Actually, IMO, it's the flames and such that should be deleted, as _those_ are the ones wasting space. Off-topic is ok, but cussing out someone you don't know for something you don't understand is unacceptable.

I would have to agree. He sounds dumb to be voting in a survey that could radically change an established site with a reputible stature. I may not post often at all, but I read the discussions, and formulate opinions. I voted #2 because Anarchy will always exist. It's just a matter of learning to USE it instead of FIGHT it. Like books in the Enlightment. What was first thought evil has changed the world.

Who knows? Mabey it will start here....

I also voted for #2, because I get fed up with the stupid posts, and I also don't want the admins to have to worry so much about deleting posts, maybe not totaly ban the user from posting, but like 1st insident baned for 1 day, 2nd: 2 weeks etc.

Sure, they are a priviledge and not a absolute right. We can't make ticalc.org do stuff. But lets get real - they provide this as a service, and they want people to visit the site. They can't keep on doing things that make their visitors angry, unless they just don't care about hits (which I doubt is true since Nick can't go 2 weeks without posting more stats...)

The fact is, these comment boards should be a way for the users to express their opinions about the news and such, whether or not the opinions are good OR BAD should not matter. ticalc.org wants every comment to end with "I LOVE YOU TICALC.ORG - COMMUNISM FOREVER." and that's not going to happen. I think they are taking the comment boards way to seriously, they think its a personal insult if someone posts a comment that contains a mistake that a staff member made.

Everything goes. I thought about going with deleting inappropriate comments, but ticalc seems to have a little favoritism going on here. We all know that if they end up going with the "delete inappropriate comments" everything by one person in particular would be deleted. I think we all know who this is...

Who committed these "wrongs" against ticalc.org and its members? Are you refering to Chris destroying his own site with this coordinator/communism thing?

What is this thing about a "TI-Files hack"?

I voted for #2. Off-Topic posts can be interesting. If they are worried about swears, then they should have the message board systems automaticly replace the swears with asterics, or something.

I also voted for #1. Ticalc.org should delete all subject matter that is irrelevent. A very good example is the news thread about the SDK for the TI-83 Plus. Most of the discussion there was about Macs and Ibms, not about the SDK. This demonstrates the need to delete off-topic discussions.

You could just get rid of the "Results" button until the vote is over, creating no way to get to the results unless the person voted. Then, that would force them to vote on something before the saw the results and "formed an opinion based on results"

Opinion, mere opinion,

He meant that you shouldn't see the results screen until *after* you voted. That way, people can only discuss it after they vote.

Ok, got it. But then you would be commenting on a poll that you already voted on, while the next poll was being conducted. Might be confusing.
