Why would you want an IDE for the mac. A simple text editor and a console based asselmbler is all you need.

If what I interpret from this comment about the mac not having a text editor is true.. that is just sad..

Are you trying to tell me that there is no text editor for the Mac?!? There should be at least a MC68000 development environment for the mac because it used to be based on that processor. Or were all mac programs written on the Amiga? (or in PASCAL?)

How true it is... The mac has no PURE TEXT EDITOR there are "MS word" like editors, BUT THEY JUST DON'T SAVE IT AS .TXT FORMAT!! This is just sad!!

Yes, there are text editors for the mac. Anyone who has a mac has Simpletext, the most commonly used text editor. It's just harder to find assemblers for the mac, that's all.

There are a lot of text editors for macs.

Better yet, get a decent PC for $200.

Even better yet, get a really goop PC for $1000. Still cheaper than most macs.

um, excuse me? iMac? $899, better than most PC's. spend a couple hundred more, $1599 I believe, and get a G4 supercomputer, it'll stomp any pcs, but let's not get into a Mac vs. PC war here. I just wanted to let you guys know that. Also, I'm pondering whether or not I am going to make a V-TI type program for Mac. I think I might, but it depends. I'll let you guys know later on.

You have $899 and add a couple hundred. That makes $1099. 1099!=1599 A jump of $700 is a bit more than a couple hundred..

noooooo, don't start that war up again. Just because one type of computer is better than another, don't start the os wars.

In raw processing power, Macs are faster than PCs. In everyday use, though, PCs are faster than Macs. PCs have better graphics cards and can do many common tasks faster than a Mac. Only in the most CPU inetnsive of tasks will Macs come out ahead. PCs print faster, do word processing faster, have faster disk I/O, and much more. A Mac is only really useful in high end video editing, audio mastering, scientific data analysis, weather forecasting, and other high end tasks. Other more mainstream tasks are best left on a PC. There are also far more PC programs available than there are Mac programs. Most programming tools for TI calcs are only available for the PC, not Macs. I you do any programming at all, whether for a computer or a calc, use a PC. It is too difficult to find Macintosh programming tools.

C'mon! Let's push for 68k BASIC! If you don't think it's good for anything, check this out: www.andyring.com/philring83/zelda.html. Just look at those screenshots of my ultimate 68k BASIC game and tell me what you think of that language!

Hey calm down! I do program for the 83. Go to www.andyring.com/philring83 to see my 83 games. I've only got two of them up right now, but that's becaue of this huge Zelda project. It won't be too long before I've got some more, though...

Well, it's not as smooth at all as the 89asm one that CCIA was working on, but it's amazing as far as BASIC programs go. Link moves one grid space at a time, instead of actually walking smoothly around the screen. It's not perfect, but it's definately good.
