I usually carry around batteries like on vacations, etc., but I don't carry them around everywhere. It'd be dumb. I carry spare batteries in my calculator case with my calculator ONLY when I go on vacations and trips.

Whats the point of using NiMh-rechargables in your TI?
You only need to replace standard batteries twice a year. If my batteries isnt low contrast (about 8-9) then i only carry spares if its cold outside.
-20°C does wonders for everything battery-powered, especially LCD-screens.
How about a more rugged TI-89, TI ?

I carry 4 Duracell Ultras with me when I go to school. Those batteries are not just for my TI-89 but for anything else that requires AAA like a gameboy pocket/color.
Does anybody bring a spare CR1616 or CR1620 backup battery with them? (circular battery that is located above the AAA's on the calc)

indeed i'll carry spare batteries, just in case bat. runs low.. the other way to prevent that is download a program called "battery" in asm secssion, by that you could see how your power status on down-right side of your screen. that works.
one thing happened today to me, and it sucks.
every time i carry my ti83 for test, for IMPORTANT test, everytime, EVERYTIME it screw up. fuck it. how the hell did it change the damn password ?? damn it. like today the ACT test, fucked up my entire math section, and last time when i attened SAT test, it screwed, how the hell, i mean what the hell is going on with the bill negal password progam ? to hell with it

I carry an 8 pack of Energizer AAA batteries. I also carry an 8 pack of Duracell Ultra AA. Don't know why I do this, just that I always have, and probably always will. Of course though, I always carry my 83+, 89, and 92+ with me anywhere I go though...

The school I go to has blissfully supplied me with batteries for the past 3 years. My calc dies, I grab the batteries from an 82, 83, 83+ or 86. Ignorance is bliss, they say.

No, because I have rechargeable batteries. I SUGGEST THAT EVERYONE SHOULD USE RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES. Good for the environment. If you want to buy them: buy good (expensive) ones, otherwise you have to reload them often.

i don't but i probably should. even though i can tell about 2 or 3 days before they actually go out that i need to change them.
i don't know if anyone else has this problem, but it's happened about 3 times to me. i have an 83+ and when the batteries die, it's of course no big deal because everything i need is in flash. anyway, i take the batteries out, get the cleared ram message, and continue playing for 30 seconds or so before i have to do it again. eventually, the calc just fades out and the batteries leak all inside my calc.
heh, has anyone else done this?

i have an 86 and an 89 myself while my dad/sister have an 85 each every remote control we have uses AAA batteries so they are normally are in short supply. therefore i try to at least have some AAA batteries but i only try to carry them around with me on long trips when i'll be traveling in daylight or when i have a lot of stuff archived ive had my 86 close to a year and replaced the batteries only once but my 89 ive only had a month and ive already replaced the batteries and i stay away from time keeping progs.

The 1.12 operating system for the TI 83+ is specifically designed (along with a couple other feautres) to increase calculator performance under low battery conditions. With this in mind, under normal conditions you could probably go for a couple days with the "warning low battery" message displaying every time you turn on your calculator.
