ack. i have to take that last post i made back. I just had a game that crashed the calc. For anyone who has never had to take the backup battery out of a Titanium, consider yourself very lucky. >:( (P.S. the program was tetrisgb for the TI-89)

I never had to do that. Try [On]+[2nd]+[left]+[right]. This has always helped me so far.

Try slamming it against something hard.

Or you coulddo what Sean McLaughlin suggests when you can't fix your calc:
"Get the reciept and take the calculator back to the store. If they refuse to exchange, make the best of a bad situation and get a TI-86 or 89 this time. Oh, and instead of just throwing the thing away, position it on the sidewalk, and have it and a baseball bat repeatedly attempt to occupy the same co-ordinates in space-time. The spritzing LCD oil does wonders for that ancient bloodlust."

I agree. A better thing to do would be to take the calc apart and .... I don't know where I'm going with this...

Personally, I just like to take things apart that don't work...sometimes I end up fixing them...most times not...

At the moment, I've got an 83+ with a fried LCD controller, so I'm currently in the market for a (free, preferably) 83+ LCD.

Then try [)]+[-]+[On], where "[-]" is negative. At the least, it's easier then taking out the battery.

I only use my TI-89 Titanium for math (since I have a TI-92+, which is better for games due to the larger screen). I have never had it crash yet. On the other hand, my TI-92+ crashes more often than I would like.

I have never really fixed bugs in downloaded programs, but I picked that option because I used the MS-DOS Editor (back when I used Windows) to remove a certain feature from Kerno (instant-off) so it would stop skewing the clock. It still sometimes gets stuck off, & then I have to insert something metallic into the link port, but oh, well. I always seem to have a pen or pencil (graphite works too) handy anyway.

Virtual TI
Num Account Info

Speaking of bugs, somehow I can't get Virtual Ti 2.5 or 3.0 alpha to work on my computer. When I use the 2.5 version, I have an unsupported calc, a 84+ se, and with the 3.0, whenever I start it, it says, "EAccessViolation."
Can anyone help me?

Obviously, vti 2.5 doesn't support the 84+. You have to get a rom of a 82,83,83+,85,86,89,92. You have to get these from your calc. It is illegal to download them if you don't have the calc.

For 3.0 you have to download the 83+ flash debugger.go to education.ti.com in the search type sdk. Click the first option. After you download it, copy the 3 files with the extension "clc" to the directory with vti. Then it should run.

You are welcome(kinda).

If someone could tell me how to send files to the new vti that would be appreciated(the option is grayed out).

Yeah, I've noticed that too. So, instead of trying to figure it out, I've taken the path of least resistance and downloaded TiLEm, which, in my opinion, is an all-around better emulator.

Ok, since you asked:

(all of this is about VTI 3.0 alpha)

EAccessViolation is when it can't find a rom.
Solution: Download or dump a rom from a 73, 83+, or 83+SE. I suggest getting the TI Flash Debugger, open up it's folder, and copy the .clc files (all of them) to the VTI folder, rename them as .rom. Bang, 3 working calc roms.

You can still only put apps on it though.

Solution:
Open up TI Flash Debugger, pick your favorite calc
Put all the stuff you want on it
Archive all the stuff you want to keep on it
Choose "Save" and save your file to your desktop or somewhere
It'll make 2 files, a .clc and something else based on which calc you chose
Copy the .clc to your VTI directory, rename as .rom
Delete the other weird file it made
Open it up in VTI, it should work fine

Unless it's mirage. I'm having this weird problem with mirage, where it brings up the VTI debugger thingy. It doesn't seem to like the .db $dd, so i just skip over it. (right-click on next command (add h) and choose Set PC to selection)
It usually works fine, sometimes you can't open up your MAIN folder, just quit out and try again

There's suprisingly little information on this, so might as well put it somewhere. I figured this out by trial and error. It's still a pain to put stuff on it, but at least we know it works :) waiting for a new release soon!
