Does anyone know of a good place to learn how to program in assembly for the TI-89? I've tried numerous places, but the tutorials either don't work correctly, or the files on the site are missing. How did all of you people who answered one year or less learn to program?

I put one month because I it took me that long to write an alligned sprite routine and a 2d tile mapper that would display a map where you could walk around. After a few weeks I changed it so it would use a compressed map file. A few months later I found that the code wasn't very good so I optimized it. The code still needs some optimizing, but I'm busy trying to add other stuff right now.

Yes, and C++ is a programming language that you can use all over the computer industry. You know ASM and not a whole lot of people care.

Actually, Assembler is used a lot and not a dead language, if you think it's so useless, and the people that write in it are dorks, why do you come here? I KNOW you download programs, probally ASM. Don't be a hypocrite.

Okay, the only ASM programs I use are galaxian and ztetris. That is about the extent of ASM's usefullness. Any other programs I need I can make myself, or if I need to download something, I download a BASIC program because I can alter it to better suit my needs. If I wanted to program in ASM I'd program in C++ and convert it to ASM. It's only you dumbasses that lock yourselves away in back rooms doing your little nerding that think ASM is good. You're too involved in your useless activities that think hairbrained shit like ASM is good. Go out and live yourself a life jack ass!

can I stalk you? just this once?
:-)
wow. that is like totally what I have be thinking. and not just cause your female. but some of the ASM programs have actually diminshed the others. for instance. since you can run ION 83 and compile also a 83 Plus version. NO ONE IS SMART ENOUGH TO GO OUT AND LEARN IT...after reading this article, and posting my two cents (and hounding Laura, maybe I should knockit off, eh?)...i'm thinking ASM is not the path I want. i'll just keep plugging away at C+- (meant to be that way, because I am working on a new class with totally awesome functions, that will make C++ easier for new people! yay....)
alright, sorry if anyone felt harrased. i'm done. but not until:
ah never mind. calc-pick up lines suck...

i don't know if you realized this, but ASM is the most powerful language that you can program for. It is the fastest way you can program (unless you do machine code). You can do more with ASM than any other language, as it's low-level. So I don't know where you got the idea that ASM is bad. I have a feeling that you donb't like ASM because yOU CAN'T PROGRAM IN IT BECAUSE IT WAS TOO HARD FOR YOU!

" is exactly what you say to a C++ programmer. freak. i'm no idiot. although ASM is a wonderful language, and produces many nifty things, most of it is missused. since BASIC is to crippled to make games worth publishing, hey, people go to ASM. though there are SOME nice games out there. and since I believe that most games are indeed a waste of time, well....but thanks for updating me on my I.Q., and general knowledge of ASM (and other assembler languages....)

Actually, that's basic.

Machine code is more like this:
0100101101101010100010101011010101111101
1101010010110100101010101000101011111110
1110110101011001010100101001011010110110
11110101000100001

Machine Code?
Laura Thompson  Account Info

Is it really like that or did you just type in random 1s and 0s? See this is maching code too...

1010101010101010
1010100101101011
1010101001010101
0101010101010101
1010101010101010

It doesn't mean a damn thing, but according to you its machine code.
