A color game would be nice...maybe Super Mario?

But this would be a HUGE hassle for programming in ASM. It would just make everything a lot harder, so...no, I do not want a color calc. Anyways...what would be the educational value. TI wouldn't add that feature just so people could play bteer games.

There would be mathematical advantages too...graphs in color would make it easier to differentiate between different plots and functions.

But I imagine it would chew up batteries faster. Color would be great, but I don't know how well they'd be able to implement this. It would probably also shoot the costs WAY up.

Nintendo DS ~$150

Depending on the technology, and demand, price can be quite low...
PSP is $250, and it's got a large, color screen, super processor, memory card slot, USB cord, UMD slot, etc...
The DS has TWO screens, one of which is a touch screen, and it has a DS Card slot and a GBA/Accessory slot.
I'm sure TI might be able to make a cost efficient calculator with a color screen... It depends on the technology they use...

Hmm, that's true, I hadn't thought of it that way. Though on the flipside, a Nintendo DS can't factor polynomials, handle differential equations, create polar graphs, reduce expressions, format expressions in "pretty print", etc. So you'd have to account for the AMS as well. Also, I'd wager calculators are a more popular item than the DS (because they're required for high school/college), so supply/demand would also have an affect on the price.

Or maybe I'm just too pessimistic?

Good points. I would definitely rather have a graphing calc than nintendo DS. Besides, you can't have a DS out in class like you can a calculator, and games for the DS cost money wereas games for a calc here are free. However, as for buying it from TI- building it yourself is not practical. You'd have to have the soldering skills and agility of a robot. One false move and the whole thing is toast. Even if you did have the necessary skills, buying one preassembled would save a ton of time!

Yes, super mario would obviously be better in color. Maybe even a new opporating shell?

i would rather play Halo2 on TI. Actually, when I was buying my first calculator, I bought the "Casio CFX-9850G" instead of the TI-86 because it had color and I thought I'd get to play color games. Shortly afterwards, I figured the 86 was better due to the assembly language. I'd still like to see a color calculator by TI though, it would be fun!

It might be nice to be able to graph in color...I always make designs out of graphs and color would be cool.

A color screen would be a great advancement if TI were to implement it. With such low resolutions at the moment and the LCD being either black or blue it's very difficult to distinguish between two very close overlapping functions. It's not all that essential but it would make it easier than having to trace along each line. This would lead to more memory being needed and then a faster CPU. Better resolution for the z80 calculators and (89 =P) would be handy.

They should make a setting in the O.S. to toggle the color on or off. This way programs that dont require color such as a basic math program doesnt take up unneccesary space.

Yeah. Simply having line color selection in the Plot and Y= setup "Red, Blue, Yellow, Purple, Green, Orange, Black" should work, with Black as the default.

not with this z80 sorry, but if there because it is too laysi for a color screen so if you want a color screen you have to have a z80 with a speed of 50MHz ore more because the calcutor will freeze with less and you have to have much more memory than 2MBytes
