I think the thing that will occupy me most, this Christmas, will be seeing everybody imaginable. We're going to our grandmother's house... our other grandmother's house... friend's houses, more relatives, etc. I'll will be busy with that. And as for school work, there is only one assignment due at the end of Christmas break, so I won't be too busy for school (besides, that's just mean to assign work over break).

Oh, and also, I got my scores back from the second round of the USAMTS! (link) So far, I have a 48/50. Hopefully, I won't lose any more points.
Last time I asked, nobody had heard of the USAMTS. I just found out about it this year. Nobody else here has heard of it? I assumed some people would since there are a lot of math nerds in here. :-D

I like math, but I would never have heard of the test because I'm homeschooled.

Well, I was invited to take the AMC test in school, and my score on that test got the people from the USAMTS test to send me a letter, inviting me to that one. I think you should be able to do it from being homeschooled anyway, if you wanted to.

I haven't heard of the test either, although I was homeschooled as well until I went to a community college to finish my HS credit. There was this test my Calc III teacher asked if I would take for an honors project...I didn't take it, I did a different project instead, but I guess it's like a competition against the top 2% of math geniuses in the United States. I kinda wish I HAD done it now, because getting over 100% in my Calc class kinda gave me some confidence... also, I hadn't known at the time that there was a 100,000$ PRIZE!!!! Math teachers always forget the IMPORTANT details... :)

No, the prize is 100,000 dollar signs. You win the dollar signs, not dollars themselves. That is why he put it after. It is the only thing that makes sence -- and still streaching -- seeing that I cannot believe that anyone would screw that up.

I took a look at those tests, and most of those, it would be fairly simple to make a calculator program to solve... :) I've done stuff like that before. I've made a program to solve the "tower of hanoi" puzzle for any number of disks :)

Homeschooling is such a terrible thing to do to children. Every person I've met who was homeschooled is either horribly shy or has zero social skills. I hope you don't fit into either of these categories... for your sake.

I'm antisocial now, but when I was younger I wasn't. Besides, I like being homeschooled much better (I was in school for part of kindergarden)-I actually get free time (wow!!!), have a flexible schedule, and don't have to answer idiotic questions like "how does this book make you feel?", besides being able to go at my own pace.

Also, I know people who are very social, etc. who have been homeschooled. Admittedly, just about all of them go to public school now, but they've had ~8 years of homeschooling, and during that time, they've been just like they are now.
