Third Post! (appears as second, though.)
I think VTI is an excellent program for TI program developers. Hencee, i have never used it. If it's too complicated to program on-calc, it's too complicated for me to program.

Check the link: I'm not sure what it will do, linked to "respond to post" page...

This survey is more than two months old.
Has anyone seen a nice integration by parts math function for the 89 for AP Calc BC? (I'm only in 8th grade, and i saw a tree on this subject a while back.)

No, it's a link to the page where i wrote my response (the link linked to the responding page i was writing it on) it responds to the first post, not my post. Why not use it to see if it works? I can't tell because it was in my user name.

the second message would most surely be the next root message of the tree
Although there are messages sent before his (judging from the times shown)
who gives a damn anyway? why am i writing this?

I agree,
Have you ever tried debugging an ASM program on a real calc. I'd say that's near to impossible. VTI allows you to run a program command by command while keeping an eye on the register values and the stack. I thinks it's safe to say that VTI is a must have for any TI ASM programmer. Besides, nothing is more frustrating than 30 crashes a day because of buggy code. Thanks to VTI, that belongs to the past.

Daniël

BTW.
Congratulations Rusty!

I can't figure out how to use the dang debugger. I program in C, so that might be the problem. What I do is make delays or display messages at points in the program to tell where I am.

C on VTI
willothewisp

No duh. It couldn't ever work with C, because what's on the calculator is in ASM code. You have to use debug printfs and the like.

That's what I do. I stick delays and printf_xy()'s all over the place to debug. I KNOW the calc runs on ASM.

I use dlgBox, or something similar. You don't have to worry about trashing your screen that way.

I just have my progs (for hhe 83) display x,y, other vars in the top corner of the screen.

VTI is not only safer but easier to use than the real calc when programming in either C or ASM. I have mine set up as if it were a brand new calc so I know what I will or will not have to install for a program to run. Also I am able to debug on several different calc versions. The virtual link helps out a lot also.

Hey, the new USB link has been out (free at my local Wal-Mart). How long will it probably take for VTI to get updated in an Offical Release with USB support?

Dude! Free?!? Oh well, my main computer is so old that it doesn't have a USB port. If I want USB functionality, I have to find out which pins do what in the multifunction on the motherboard. It does have USB support, it just doesn't tell you where to plug in the little wires. I wish it did - I have an adapter for standard motherboards, and I could just use jumper wires to connect it (no, not automotive jumpers).

This comment is a little late but if you do read it then great. You there should be four pins near your serial ports on your motherboard to pug it in. Normally they are in pairs so you would see a 2x4 set of pins. However, it may or may not be normal so you may get to move some pins around. Luckily they are always (as far as I know) in the same order so you only have to figure out if they are the same or inversed (e.g. +--- and +---or +--- and ---+). You would also have to turn it on in BIOS (probably).

Do you use Windows > 95/98? That was the problem with me. I had to get onto an older computer to dump my ROM. Unupdated, VTI is getting rusty.
