Not on my watch... I don't need any more luggage to carry around and I can already type blindfolded the TI-83+ keypad. Another thing I noticed about the TI keyboard is the lack of a number pad. So in order to type numbers you use the ones at the top of the keyboard (pain in the arse) or use the calc keypad (if that's even possible). The only thing I found even slightly interesting was that it comes with a stand for your calc so you don't have to lean over.

they should have put a keypad, for convience, but it would probably make it so long, that it would be to big to carry, and they probably figured that you would use the keypad they already put on the calculators.

Umm...No not really. It will be better just to get a PDA or a Palm. It looks kinda cruddy using a big thing like that on a small TI calculator. I might get it if I get bored. I need reasons to buy it. I'll probably make fun of those who bought the keyboard and use it in class to take notes. For programming it's okay, but you should do that in Notepad anyway. Smell ya later.

Your username is binary for the letter 'Z'. Is there some reason for this or did u just pick random binary digits?

I emailed TI a while ago and then they stated that they didn't know if they are going to release the protocol about the keyboard for developers (us programmers).

If the protocol was released or if they offically supported the ti keyboard for the 86 then I might get one. $40 is a bit steep though.

Who needs the protocol released? It'll be easy to figure out...

Who needs to figure it out? It is already used in TIGCC, just ask them!
(it's used to run the program on the calc after it's sent via the silent link, something else that needs to be researched)
See my comment above about the general format of the protocol. There remains only 16536+256 commands to try, if we can't weasel it out of the TIGCC team!

TIGCC is under the GPL (or at least it needs to be -- it's a derivative of GCC, which is GPLed), so you can see the source code of it.

OK, thanks. I'm just too lazy to read the docs myself.

Does some have a copy of The Geometer's Sketchpad for TI-89 you can send me? I think I have discovered how to change the certificate ID of an APP with a hex editor.

Nah...I use the QWERTY app for the 83+ to do notes, so I don't really care. Besides, who'd want to pay $40 bucks for an oversized keyboard? (compared to the calc)

I won't know for sure until someone sends me a program with a different ID certificate than mine.

I hate that qwerty app, it kept crashing my calc, and never did work, but it is a good idea, just needs some work

No way. I'd rather take my 1.6MHz laptop to class, fire up MATLAB, then send the results via my academy's wireless network to any nearby printer. I hardly use my 89 anymore except for tests.

hey did you know there are many states which outlaw acadamy's and many more planning to do so? Reason being that they take their money from public funds and then exist as a private school. I hope they outlaw it in colorado soon because part of my neighborhood is occupied by an acadamy which has a "selective" entrance, when all of the selection involves racial background and I am unable to be admitted. Enjoy this useless biased fact.
