The funniest thing is... it probably took him, at most, five minutes to write it ;-)

Why does the United States try to prevent the download of this program in certain countries?

They don't want people like Bin Laden using encryption, for obvious reasons. Thus, exporting to certain countries is illegal.

BIN LADEN WANTS ENCRYPTION FOR HIS CALCULATOR????!!! I really doubt he sends secret terrorism messages on his CALCULATOR! Besides, if they want it, they can download it off here, even if it is illegal.

Antway, it was a little weird adding a file for a fellow staff member, but I knew I wouldn't have to check it. But this program is awesome, I suggest you check it out if you haven't.

How complex is the code of the program? Is it easily portable?

Easy to port??? No it's not easy for users to port!!! I read the beta docs. It can't be decompiled properly, and I tested this feature. Easy for him to port? I don't know, because i don't know about other TI calcs.

Is it not at all ironic that he put antway instead of anyway

I keep secret stuff on MY calculator in text format (the 89). It's good for that. I don't want people getting into that anymore. >:(

I think the reason is more like they don't want bin laden dissasembaling it and finding a way to hack RC6 or whatever. Similar codes are used by the US military I would assume, or at east by USA's beloved e-commerce. OT, Iraq was much better before USA put trade sanctions on it, with some universal health care system or something, unike USA.

Um... except that almost every American I know doesn't want a socialist medical system. Also, they are UN sanctions, not US sanctions.

Understandable that the US Government doesn't want terrorists to have access to encryption, but there can't be many countries in the EU that would want that either, but they realize that it doesn't matter anyway.

Strangely, the US tries to say that even though the ticalc.org server isn't in the US, since the program originally came from the US it can't be re-exported to anyone in the "Denied Parties List" or whatever they call it now. But then, the US claims jurisdiction over the whole world.
