VTI v3.0 Alpha
Posted by Michael on 24 February 2003, 00:49 GMT

Rusty Wagner and Corey Taylor have been working on a new version of Virtual TI, our most-downloaded file of all time. Available from SourceForge, v3.0 emulates the 73, 83+, and 83+ SE. It even allows for writing to flash, a major issue with 2.5. While there is still much work to be done, this is a significant development and hopefully will lead to a wonderful finished product.

Download the alpha here.

I thought rusty had gone on to other things, and that this guy was working on it by himself now...

But thats just what I thought i heard, I might be wrong...

Rusty disappeared for so long, I think that everyone thought he was gone. But at least he's back!

He's listed as one of the authors on SourceForge.

That doesn't mean he's actively contributing, merely that he's an author.

His hand was all over the original code and base class changes to support this new stuff.

It was originally a contract job we got, but since TI dropped it, so did we, but now I'm trying to release it for the community.

Please note, everyone, that Corey said "I'm trying...", as in himself, alone at the moment. I don't think Rusty had a very big part in releasing this.

yes, the news article needs to be fixed. there are a bunch of people who are all excited that rusty is back; but he is not. go to www.ti-news.com (temporary address).. it even says he's back in the news article; specifically

This article and others made it seem that both Rusty and Vejita were working on VTI again, but it seems that this is not the case; Rusty has not in fact reappeared. Oh well. :p

wish there was a palm emu for the 8x's, 180*180 screen... long as you code it in asm not C, probably way too slow... even though some palms have 200mhz

Unfortuantely, the 8x calcs do not nearly have 180x180 resolution; the highest resolution in 8x calculators is 64x128, and that is on the TI-86. Before you took your biography off of the site, I remember reading that you only have a TI-83+ (64x96 resolution). Unfortunately, a PalmOS emulator for the 8x calcs is out of the question unless something is done to the emulator that decreases the need for the tight pixles and grayscale.

Do you put height before width in screen resolutions?
I though the TI-83+ was 96x64!

Oh. Darn. I thought you meant a HP-48/49 emulator for the 89. If that were true, I could omit one calculator from my backpack.

Now _that_ would be interesting.

An emulator that would run HP calcs on TI calcs. Wow.

TiEmu (a Linux/Win32 TI89/92(+) emulator) has been ported on iPAQ. Maybe it could be ported to the PocketpC, too...
TiEmu is very fast, you need a Pentium 100 mini.
