AMS 2.08 Re-released
Posted by Michael on 20 February 2003, 23:54 GMT

It appears TI has been busy lately; AMS 2.08 for the 89, 92 Plus, and Voyage 200 has been re-released. It was pulled from download shortly after its original release upon the discovery of linking problems with TI Connect. Now it's been fixed and is available once again for download. You can snatch the 89, 92+, or Voyage 200 updates from TI's Online Store. Version 2.08 adds the icon desktop, new trig functions, flash app categorization, and most notably clock support.

That's funny... icon desktop... well, why i don't find that after installation?
The home desktop continues the same... when i hear icon desktop i think in Voyager PLT desktop, but i can't find that kind of thing...

This is because you havent activated it, you have to go to options or whatever, and the very last option is icon desktop. Just choose on or off... have fun...

Is it similar to the palm pilot icon layout?

not really, the palm layout is far superior, maybe more like the palm os 2 layout...

It's like the inbred child of the Palm OS. Looks similar, but functionally there is something very wrong with it.

Oohh... do you think it might run on VTI? I know that it didn't exist before Rusty abandoned us, but just for the heck of trying...

Yes, AMS 2.08 works in VTI. By saying it was like the inbred child of the Palm OS I was merely referring to the icon layout for the Apps Desktop.

HOWEVER:
The clock does not work in VTI. All the functions work fine, and you can set the clock, but the time doesn't progress. It remains at whatever you set it to be.

I'm trying to uninstall TI Graph Link from my computer, but it keeps on coming up with an <unknown> error. Any suggestions?

Huhuhuh??? Why would you want to do that?? In my opinion, Graph-link is better than TI Connect because Connect is so slow when it's trying to read all the stuff in your calc...(but that's just me and my 83+SE)

In a real response to your question, i...have...no...clue...

Well, I don't want to do it for obious reasons, but I have to delete everything on my computer, reinstall the OS, then reinstall everything. TI Graphlink is one of the last things to go. :)

Download PreOS from the link. It's basically a newer DoorsOS version, but better. And you won't need HW2Patch for it, either.

Actually, you can install the patch and have AMS 2.08. Simply install AMS 2.05, install the HW2 Patch 2.30 (the latest one, compatable with AMS 2.05) perminently, and install AMS 2.08. Don't trust me on this one, though, because I don't know how much of the ROM is patched and how much of that patch will be overwritten in a new OS installation.

When you patch 2.05, 2.05 is patched. Installing 2.08 erases 2.05. I don't think it'd work, but go ahead and try that if you want to.

Now that I think about it, you are probably right. I haven't had time to test DoorsOS or anything requiring an HW2 patch.

what do you mean get rid of it? like uninstall, go to add remove programs in the control panels.

If you mean use a different program, I recomned TiLP, i used to use it (till it stopped working) and it was great, there is also fastlink, and (ugg) ti connect...

If that didnt answer your question, then please, restate it more clearly.

I have Windows ME, and it hasn't been working lately. My dad and I decided to wipe out everything, then start from scratch. I tried uninstalling Graphlink 2.1 from Add/Remove Programs, and I've tried just clicking on the uninstall button on the start menu. Everytime I do this, I get an error message <unknown> and it says to reboot my computer. That doesn't work either. I don't know what to do.

Since you wiped out the machine, it may be that only components of it still exist, install it again, then uninstall it, and then reinstall it. That should work...

That may seem like a lot to do for such a small problem, but I find that it works for most programs...

Assuming that you are refering to the TI-GraphLink software that comes with your calc, then I am not sure how to get it to work (because I only use TI-Connect).

My advice is to just use TiLP or TI-Connect instead of the GraphLink software because TI-Connect can perform all of the linking features that the GraphLink software can.
