Advanced Finance Released For 83 Plus
Posted by Michael on 18 January 2003, 22:24 GMT
TI has released the Advanced Finance flash application for the TI-83 Plus. It costs $19.99 and is downloadable from TI's Online Store. Interestingly enough, the price is half of TI's dedicated financial calculator, the BA II Plus, and it includes most if not all BA II features, such as depreciation worksheets and cash flow analysis. Furthermore, Advanced Finance takes advantage of the 83+'s screen to allow graphing of financial functions. Business types will want to take a look at this.

PROTEST!

To all people who feel that Michael Vincent has abused his power here at ticalc.org, i have set up a petition at http://www.petitiononline.com/ michaelv/petition.html where you can either support the protest or sign recommendations to Mr. Vincent on how to do his job better. He really hit me on the face with an iron when he deleted my "slightly abusive" protests. So anyways, go to the petition and read the paragraph (which is larger than Gary's; that was only part of it) on why Michael should either change the way he's doing things or get out. I'm just going to make a few quick points on this one:
1) I totally respect that you have comments on what was done. I beleive those comments should be analyzed and probably something done about it.
2) While I respect the creation of this petition, at the same time I find it very sad. Not because it's critical against a member of our staff - that happens, and I respect that too. In fact, constructive critisism certainly helps to improve. It's because where I come from, we try to discuss things in a civilized way first. If that fails, we start considering protest actions such as petitions. Sure, it comes to that more often than one might like, but at least an *attempt* at discussion is made first. As far as I know, Michael was not contacted by email about this. I know for a fact that I was not. Both of us, and I'm sure also Nickd, would defintily have been available for discussion about this, had somebody bothered to contact us.
3) I absolutely *DO NOT* respect people signing up on the petition under a fake name. In particular, signing up under Michaels name. I never will accept this kind of childish behaviour. I can only hope that this was not done by one of the people behind the petition. If it turns out it was, that voids the respect in points 1 and 2 above. My hopes are it was just somebody trying to make sum fun at somebody elses expense.
