Quick Updates
Posted by Nick B. on 30 July 2002, 21:02 GMT
With the last weeks of summer vacation ticking away, back-to-school season is once again upon us. However, the last couple of weeks of July were not completely inactive in terms of new releases, so let's have a look: - Joe Flint released The King of Fighters 2000 for the TI-83 and TI-83 Plus. This advanced fighting game has been in development for over two years and includes fourteen playable characters.
- Greg Dietsche has relased KerNO v2.0. Essentially a kernel (of sorts) that provides features for nostub programs, including ways to break out of ASM programs that are not responsive, removes ASM size limits, and enable ASM programs to return values in expressions. New things in this version include improved keyboard responsiveness, bug fixes, and Voyage 200 support (in the 92+ version). Available for the TI-89 and TI-92 Plus.
- Patrick Davidson has released a slight update to the Phoenix Platinum Edition for the TI-89 and TI-92 Plus (which should work on the Voyage 200 as well).
- Also, calc.org and its hosted sites are now back up, so be sure give them a look.

Anybody ever hear about the Feraliminal Lycanthropizer...not sure if thats the correct name. It's something developed by NAZI's in WWII that was supposed to make people act like animals. It was also alleged to be used in Vietnam on POWS...this is backed up with alleged photos of the device...I thought it was kinda cool actually to be able to recreate that sound on a computer with this proggie called "brain wave generator". I haven't noticed much alteration in my behavior though...but i guess there isn't to much room for improvement ;=).
On a side note...i had my physical today. THANKYOU LORD FOR BLESSING ME WITH A FAIRLY ATTRACTIVE FEMALE DOCTOR!!! (its a wierd feeling when somebody squeezes your balls...on the verge of pain, but not quite)
Owell...after i got my 5 needles in various locations of my arms i felt fine...but i felt sick the minute i walked outside in the high heat environment. Was massively dizzy, everything was green...my dad got me a cold coke and i felt fine right away...*stares at bloodless holes in arms*. Now that was fun ;=)
Hmm...wish i was hunting right about now ;=)

Game suggestions/requests

Here's a few game suggestions I have for anyone that's interested:
You've all heard of TI-Chess, right? At least as far as I'm aware of, it is the best calculator version of the very popular board game known as Chess. But what about Chinese Chess, Japanese Chess (Shougi), four player Chess, or other strange but fun variations of Chess? Maybe the someone could make these as plug-ins to TI-Chess or as stand alone games if they required completely different programming. Check out www.chessvariants.com for more Chess variants.
Now what about Go? It seems to be just as popular, if not more, in the Orient than Chess is in the West. I don't have much experience in AI programming myself, but I know for a fact that programming AI for a computer Go program is much more complex than programming computer Chess AI. I think programming a Go game would be a very difficult challenge. Nonetheless, I think someone should attempt it (Just not me, I could hardly program Tic-Tac-Toe). www.kiseido.com and www.turbogo.com have a free programs with a tutorial just in case you're interested.
Anyway, I think we could use some more games that would make the Asian population proud to own calculators. ^_^ V
Think I said enough?

Guys, please stop with the 'pyramid', etc. stupid stuff. It's gone a little too far. Sure, it was fun in the beginning, but now it's just annoying.
So please, by request of a respected pillar of the TI community (cough cough), stop with the childish stuff. Let's have some serious discussion here, ok? I assure you, being intelligent CAN be fun, too.
