Actually, it was pretty well-made, except for the dumb AI ... takes a long time to move and in AI vs. AI, the calculator ended up repeating the same positions, over and over again. Worse, there was no way to get out of the game during an AI vs. AI match. So I had to remove my calculator's life support ...
Otherwise, a very well made game. Heh, poor 83/+/SE, only series (where a chess game would be worth it) left out of the chess club (assembly-wise, anyway) ...

I love the move-checking engine, it's absolutely hilarious! I was playing with my friend (he was white) and he didn't notice that he had moved his king into check from my queen. The move-checking engine didn't notice it either, so it allowed it. I promptly killed my friend's king and we were left playing "Democratic Chess." The funny thing was that he could still checkmate me, but if I killed all of his pieces, it would stalemate. I've got a screenshot at http:// anhsacdec.hypermart.net /images/demchess.htm (remove the spaces). I also have the save file for download from there.
I was also once able to kill my queen with my own king! Unfortunately, no screenshot of that :(

Oh, this is for the 89? Maybe I should download it then...

I never use caps lock, in fact, the last time I used it was when I was trying to see what "keycode" it had in a C program. I always hold in shift because I am too lazy to move my left pinky finger. :)

Isn't the left pinky finger also used to hit the left SHIFT button? Or do you use the right SHIFT button?

Cool, Chess for the 86. As for the comparison chart in the zip, I wonder who wrote that. It seemed a little biased towards the 86, but that's my opinion.

And what do you mean by, "Or, America where they don't deserve either?" Are we too rich for you? Or do we deserve HPs instead? Personally, I like laptops or palms...

Yes, the chart is definitely biased. A quick cram course in stat (like maybe an hour long) would show that the TICT version would probably (I haven't done the calculations yet) get more comparison "points" if the other two chess programs, which are obviously inferior, were left out.

Also, an opinion to the author: I think that the title screen on chessmaster 5000 (the huge greek god-looking guy over a chess board) would be better than the 5500 one.
