Xeontech Beta 1 Released
Posted by Eric on 28 December 2001, 21:03 GMT

Xeontech Beta 1 Macross has released the first beta of Xeontech, their flagship Action-RPG game engine for the TI-89. Users can create their own RPGs that Xeontech then runs (read the documentation for more). Go download it.

Man that looks sweet. I only have an 86 :( Are you guys planning on porting it to any other calc?

That is very doubtful he will... besides, TI-86 has memory limitations far more than 89s. :(

I know the TI-86 stinks (compared to the 89 & 92+) but you must admit it is better than the 83. and only better than the 83+ in screen resolution :) (not mem).
If anyone visits this message that has an 86. I am thinking of creating SQRXZ v2 email me if you think I should. It already will have grayscale.

Only better than the 83+ in screen resolution? My friend, you are badly mistaken :P

Sqrxz is w00t, too bad I got an 89 and haven't touched my 86 for five months :( Are you planning to release the source? A port might be possible.

I might release the code eventually if I get enough support to actually finish the projec :-)

Hmmm... I don't think it's suppost to do that.

The 86 has many more features than the 83(+(SE)). The 83+SE may have the 86 beat now--more memory and symbolic differentiation--but that whole series has shortcomings, such as variable name length, equation solving, and the 86 menu system is simply much better than the 82/83(+(SE))'s.

Well, it has 96kb of RAM and 83 has 28kb of RAM and 83+ has 24. So, execution of the large programs on 83's is far more limited than on 86.

When I refered (hmm...? is that how you spell it?) to the TI-83 Plus I meant to include the archive space. I have an 83+ and never use it. Except for at school, because all the intructions my Algebra teacher (moron) gives are for the 83/+.

Peace out my homboy fro da wesside,
(not meant to offend anyone :-)

My algebra teacher only gives inscructions for the 83+(I'm in algebra for 7 more dayts!), but I use my 92+ anyways. She lets me use it on homework and tests. I keep both my 86s and my 83+ in my backpack just in case. When will 2 calc bomberbloke multiplayer be fixed?

I just hope my algebra 2 teacher next semester is as understanding as my algebra 1 teacher.

My Cal teacher gives out insructions for 83's but I have no trouble using my 89 (I try not to use it very much tho). Many times after class, I give my teacher a few calc tips and she really appreciates it. :)

Stupid IB doesn't let us use 92+s or 89s
Does anyone have symbolic calculus or symbolic operations or pretty print like the 89 on the 86 yet?

If it's ported at all it will probably be ported upwards...as in the 92+.

Mainly because it's coded in C and the screen resolution on the 86 sucks.

The script format (ie protocol) is open, though, so someone could easily write their own version of the engine to run Xeontech scripts on any calc. Kind of like how their are versions of ICQ for different operating systems.

I don't think porting to the 92+ would be hard. the 89 and 92+ are very similar.

i haven't played it yet, so i don't know where all of the sprites are placed and stuff, but the difficulty with porting an 89 game to the 92p is that you have to worry about the edge of the screen... cus the LCD memory stuff for the 89 is the same as the 92p, (128x240), and the 89 only displayed 100x160 of it, so you can place sprites on the edge of the screen without worrying about it, (unless it's on the top/left, in which case you have to write big long functions that make sure it's displayed in the right place and doesn't mess with any other parts of the memory (which would be a bad thing and make the calc crash)) anyways... it's a little bit more difficult than it sounds like to port something from the 89 to the 92 unless all the screen scrolls 16 pixels at a time.

Nicked some teacher magazines awhile ago...

TI offered 89 Viewscreen calculators, black cable included for $120...

A little later there was a Silver viewscreen offer...
$79.5...

The silver viewscreen looks really special, it's all black, and has a silver frame around the screen...

My Apologies.

Let me re-phrase:

I hate it when someone posts "Someone please port <name of game> to the 83+!!!!! It would be so cool and my friends would love it and it's a great game and everyone would download it! I'd do it myself, but I don't know assembly and it's too hard."

That irks me.

That's Okay. I feel the same way. If this Xeontech thing works out. I may right an RPG engine for the 86. After I finish SQRXZ 2. Long Live SQRXZ, Mario, Z80, Linux, <other crap here>... :-)
