DoorsOS II v0.93 Released!
Posted by Eric on 10 February 2000, 07:36 GMT

Xavier Vassor and the Doors Team have released DoorsOS II v0.93 for the TI-89 and TI-92+. This new version breaks the infamous 8KB limit for programs on AMS 2.03. As usual, DoorsOS can be found in our archives. Once again, congratulations to the Doors Team!

Does DoorsOS still crash all the time? Since my calculator's link port is broken I cannot test it.

I have the same problem that you do. I tried installing plus shell before doors, that fixes the lock up problem but it returns an error after the splash screen comes up. If you can get it to install, let me know how. wjesse_98@hotmail.com

I have a HW1 TI-89 and just upgraded to AMS 2.03 from 1.00. I thought only HW2 calcs got more memory with the upgrade, but apparently it worked on mine! Can anyone tell me why?

I'm gonna d/l the new version of Doors right now. Good work.

Another thing: I'd like to use multiple TI-89 ROMs on Virtual TI but can't get the ROMdump program to work. Can anyone tell me how to do this. BTW, I own this calculator, so there aren't any legal issues.

Has your calc been serviced by TI? That will sometimes change the hardware version. Or, you may have a late release HW1 or your hardware may actually be 2 though I doubt it about the last possibility.

About the ROM dump; I have not used an 89 dump, but I have tried to get the 86 dump to work and have not succeeded. I think you need a communications program on your computer with some pretty archaic settings to receive the ROM. Sorry I can't tell you more; perhaps someone else knows more.

I have AMS1.00, and i'm assuming HW 1.00.
What's the advantage of HW2 ti89's, and what's the advantage of AMS 2.03? (Does it operated differently, like different methods in computing math problems?)
ALSO, the main question, where can I download a "statistic with list editor" for MY ti89? the ti website flash material is only good for the AMS 2.03.

TI only wrote the statistics app for AMS 2.03

No, my calc has not been serviced. I bought it in January 1999. I'm very sure it's HW1.
I now have a total capacity of 191,862 bytes of RAM and 720,883 bytes of Flash ROM. Does anyone here own a HW1 calc with 2.03 and benefit from more memory? Additionally, does anyone here own a HW1 calc with 2.03 and NOT have more memory?

About the ROM dump. Virtual TI (one phat emulator for those of you who like living under a boulder) has a nice ROMdump feature that accepts ROMs from pretty much every TI calc and shell. I successfully dumped AMS 1.00 from my TI-89 awhile back, but when I tried it with AMS 2.03, the "dumprom.asm" program KILLED my calc. Has anyone successfully retrieved an AMS 2.03 ROM?

Another thing...just installed the new version of Doors OS. More games run, but I can't get SMQ, Diamonds, or Period89 to work. PV (picviewer) doesn't work either. I get an address error. Has anyone had any luck with these?

HW 1 calcs get the extra memory, however, it is only useable for flashapps (like the stats app). On HW 2 calcs, the extra memory is useable for any file (so you could fill it up with asm programs)

I am able, with a TI-89 HW 1 and AMS 2.03, to run Space Monkey Quest on my calculator while it is archived. Therefore, I can put any games into my archive of 700K, and that makes there a lack of difference between HW 1 and HW 2 calcs. Right??

just because you can run some game through the archive doesn't mean you have the ENTIRE flash mem to your liking. You have half of the archive for user archive (games, programs, et cetera), and the rest is flash application ONLY (stats, cabri, et cetera)

What do you mean by "more games". Which games work now that didn't work on DoorsOS 2 v0.92. Also, a quick question: Has anyone gotten Big Dyna to work with AMS 2.03 yet. That game is one of the best out there.

About the ROMdump program: the one included with VTI only seems to work with AMS 1.0x. I could not get it to work with either 2.01 or 2.03. So if you are trying to do this with 2.03 on your calc, it will not work.

you don't really have the extra memory. Hardware 1 calcs say tehy do, but you can only fill the same amount you used to be able to. Run the get configuration program from the catalog and it will tell you that your archive memory is the 399880 (or whatever it is) that it always was.

Great! Now I'll download AMS 2.03. However, I am having problems with my 89 still. It no longer has the "8k" problem, but each time I try to play something, the libraries aren't recognized. The screen says "Library Not Found: util". However, I already have util on my calc. What should I do?

Also, where can I download AMS version 1.00, and HW 2? I cant find AMS 1.00 or AMS 1.05 anywhere so I could downgrade.

Have you been living under a rock or something. The same question has been posted on almost every TI site in the world. E-Mail ticares@ti.com and ask for them to send you the AMS you want.

The libraries cannot be archived. This is most likely your problem. Also, to get older ROM versions, e-mail ti and tell them which one you need. I have gotten 1.00 from them without any problems.

Why would you want to archive libraries? Just leave them alone. Or something.

Just don'w press f1 | 8 in var-link (f1 | 8 being archieve variable) That'll keep you from arch'ing it. Hope this helped...

Still having problems. The calculator used to just say done and wouldn't run certain programs. Now no assembly programs will run, and it says "Library Not Found:" followed by some library like hexlib or other. Yet the library is on the calculator. I'm not sure what to do.

I dumped all my programs and started over. Some program is causing problems. I think it may be the doors program, but need to test it more. However, I still cant run many programs. They dont run, they only read "done". One thing I did as well was I went back to version 1.00

You should check to make sure you have the latest libraries. I had this problem before, back in the DoorsOS I 0.xx days. (or was that the PlusShell days?)

I fixed the library problem. I dumped my calculator and didn't put it all back. Mario 92, tetris, and a few others work again. However, SMQ and other asm games still wont work. They read, "done". But nothing happens. Still unsure what to do. Right now I'm trying to figure out which program was screwing up my libraries.

I just went into ticalc's archives and got some of the libraries. Even though it was working I decided to try what you said. I got them and now Mario 92 wont work again. Says "Library not found: util" after I just got the latest version of util. Thanks anyway.

I hope you realize that NOT ALL games work even if you have this new version of doors. It does not allow you to run any game you want. The only reason I mention this is that I have had the same problem when trying to run programs that weren't AMS 2.0x compatible. If it is not compatible your calc could do a couple of things. 1:It could crash or freeze the calculator or 2:It could do nothing. Just thought I would say that in case you were thinking different.
