MicroSheep Releases Sonic MisAdventures
Posted by Nick on 16 November 1999, 23:31 GMT

Sonic MisAdventuresPatrick Pelissier, maintainer of MicroSheep, released Sonic MisAdventures for the 89, 92, and 92 Plus today (download it from the web site). Uh, it's basically a clone of Sonic the Hedgehog ;-) There's not much else to say about it. It has astounding graphics and wonderfully smooth animation, and you should really check it out as soon as possible.

Also, the Microsheep site is in French, so be warned. :)

Update: The program was originally submitted to our archives against the wishes of the author; it has been removed from our archives, but you may download it from MicroSheep.

Is there a possibility of doing a program like this on the TI-86? I was thinking about maybe attempting it (even though I don't know assembly code to well yet). Specifically, I mean a grayscale, 16x16 sprite, 2-D game like this; maybe Sonic, maybe Vectorman, or Keen4. Does anyone else think this is possible?

Also, does anyone know why the ISP I use blocks Microsheep's webpage? I haven't been able to download Sonic Misadventures, and I've been waiting a while for someone to make this. And won't the author be making the game availble for posting in a few weeks? (My ISP obviosly doesn't block ticalc.org)

Hmmm...now we have versions of Mario and Sonic on TI calculators...it's like Nintendo and Sega 16-bit days all over again (ahh; those were the days...)!

Let the mascot wars of TI calcs begin!

that would be the big shiggity if there was a TI mascot, like Sonic or Mario, except it would be designed specifically for TI (as in, not using Sonic or Mario). Then, anybody who wants could make a game using that character, and it would have that special feel, like playing the different Mario games on the Nintendo systems

This would be great! I like the idea. However, I imagine that, were a poll of some sort to be set up, we'd get lots of things like "Calcy" or "TI-Man." Someone would have to think of a mascot that doesn't just do a stupid take-off of calculators (like a walking pocket protector). The hard part about choosing a TI mascot is that we'd be choosing one for the sake of having a mascot. Sega and Nintendo basically chose theirs because they were the subjects of their most successful games. Since all TI games are developed independantly (ie, not under license from TI itself) it's hard to do that.
If someone could think of a feasable way to do this, though, it would be a wonderful concept

I don't see what the big deal about this game is. It doesn't even work! It crashes every single time. Just goes to a dinky menu after the beginning of execution and hangs.

Looks like someone has some work to do...

Then again, my calc's grayscale doesn't work. Maybe that's the problem... but I ran it on emulator and it did the same.

Eh bien.
