TiLP2 v1.00 Released
Posted by Michael on 26 September 2006, 05:06 GMT

TiLP2 has finally reached version 1.0! This great linking software has a multitude of improvements over the original TiLP, including USB DirectLink support for the 84+ and 89 Titanium. Download for Windows or UNIX and stick it to TI Connect.

I have GTK (Not GIMP) on Windows 98SE without TI-Connect. After none of the TiLP's worked, I tryed this and it didn't work either.

The LIBGLADE-2.0-0.DLL file is
linked to the missing export LIBATK-1.0-0.DLL: atl relation set add relation by type

^Error^Message^

How can I fix this? I really want to get it working, and I havn't gotton time to reinstall Ubuntu on my laptop yet...

Looks like you have conflicting versions of GTK+ installed, keep only one (the latest) and get rid of all others.

Like Kevin said, only one installation.

Also Windows 98/ME will only work properly with GTK+ 2.6 and the GladeWin32 package 2.6.10-rc1 package is what is recommended for all LPG software on Window$ for Windows 98/Me.

You can get this package from http://gladewin32.sf.net/

Great, I'll have to try this out. I ran into some small bugs in the first TiLP, but have been too lazy to upgrade.

From my experience, TiConnect completely kicked TiLP's ass...but that was on my win98 box.
I have limited knowledge of unix, but what are the chances that this is compatible with OSX? It'd be nice to not have to boot up my 98 box just to put stuff on my calc...

That's a good question. The current state on OS X is:
* tilibs 2:
- The 20060925 snapshot (which will become 1.0.1) at the "gtktiemu" SourceForge project should compile on OS X. (We have fixed all the issues reported against 1.0.0.) It is recommended to configure with --disable-nls to avoid problems with the libintl. Internationalization isn't fully supported at this point anyway.
- However, there seems to be a problem with the libusb which keeps communication over USB (i.e. the only really interesting one for TiLP - the gray GraphLink is still supported in theory, however who still has a serial port on a Mac?) from working. We're still investigating the source of the problem.
* TiLP 2, TiEmu 3: should work in principle, though there may be bugs (including compilation failures) left because they haven't been tested yet. (But see also the tilibs USB problem above.)
* KTIGCC: version 1.04 should work with X11 from Apple and KDE from Fink. (I have fixed all the issues reported against 1.03.)
* TilEm: I have no idea.

This is great! Now all I'm waiting for is VTI 3 with 83+ (SE) support.

To the best of my knowledge, VTI 3 has been discontinued. But TilEm supports the TI-83+ and TI-83+ SE now. And there are Window$ binaries available.

There is a Fedora Core 5 RPM for TiLP 2 next to the TiEmu 3 RPMs at the TiEmu project page. I package these.

For DEBs and for RPMs for other distros, well, I don't package these, so I don't know when or if they get made. We could definitely use more distro packagers.

I can convert rpm's to deb's with a program calles Alien. I hope it'll work.

I'm not positive. FC5 uses glibc 2.4. FC6 will be out this month with glibc 2.5. These binaries won't run with glibc 2.3 (and soon not with 2.4 either).

I use Ubuntu 6.06 which has indeed glibc 2.3. The next release 6.10 (this month) will have glibc 2.4. Will it then be possible to install TiLP-2 1.00 safely?

Or better: where is the one who knows to make deb's?

Well, you could try upgrading your glibc (or libc6 as it is called in Debian and Ubuntu), the one from Edgy (which will become 6.10 when released) should work. Normally running old programs with a new glibc should not break things. But of course this kind of things is risky, and I cannot be held responsible for any consequences if that breaks your system.

> The next release 6.10 (this month) will have glibc 2.4.

Too bad by then my packages will require glibc 2.5... Why is Ubuntu always 1 version behind? Edgy is going to be released pretty much the same time as FC6, and glibc 2.5 is now out, so there's not really a good reason. It's supposed to be the version with the "exciting new features" as opposed to the "boring" long-term-supported Dapper, but those "new" features are almost all stuff FC5 had before even Dapper was released (the remaining ones will be in FC6)! Meanwhile, FC6 will bring you DT_GNU_HASH hash tables, which speed up dynamic linking (i.e. the relocation which happens at runtime for dynamically-linked executables) by a factor of 2. That's a glibc 2.5 feature (the most important one).

Why are those packages not listed on the official TiLP website?

Well, they aren't exactly official TiLP 2 releases, they are SVN snapshots from whenever I happened to release a TiEmu 3 snapshot. ;-) But I'll ask Romain to list them anyway.

I see two fairly stupid UI designs.
There is no menu bar, it's in a context menu (!?)
Selected files aren't highlighted.

That would be a bug. The "no menu bar" is by design though. (I'm personally not convinced that's a good idea, but that's Romain's decision.)

I should say that GTK+ applications are set to use KDE styles. But the file selectors in other GTK+ applications like gvim and emacs highlight perfectly fine.

I use a "normal" GTK style and the same happens to me, except it's only folders that don't select (files are fine).
