10 years is really stable on the web, its quite an accomplishment! ...Imagine, in 10 years we could come back and this site could still be here. I'd like to thank the staff and community for the good work! Without ticalc.org, I might have to find a new homepage, and be BORED online!!! *gasps, heart attack*

though I may not be here a lot anymore, I did enjoy the stuff I did here when I was new. It really helped my interest in calc programming. I have also through here discovered some other great sites and have made some really good friends. Thanks ticalc.org, you are truley the best.

Thanks for everything, guys. You're a bastion of the community, and without you, I wouldn't have had the inspiration (cough stats cough) to keep going. I hope you stick around for the rest of my calculator programming career and beyond!

Yeah, 10 years is a lot, I've seen (and sometimes been a part of) programming groups that last for maybe a year or two and suddenly die for lack of interest. That's not going to happen here!

10 years... Wow! Has it been that long?

I began frequenting the Ticalc website about 9 years ago. Ticalc played a significant role in renewing my interest in programming -- which is now my job in "real" life.

It's amazing how little has change with TI calcs over the last 10 years, but how much has change with me! I was 16 I joined this site back in 1996, just starting precalc! 10 years later I'm out of school and working, though I still have my trusty pile of TI calcs nearby. When I throw my username in google groups it still pulls up all of the old topics from the TI listservs.

Things were a lot easier when our problems were how to build a cheaper graphlink and the issue with nested goto statements slowing things down to a crawl!

I hope to see how much things progress in our world in the next 10 years. I wished I could have been more a part of this site as it grew, and I think part of that is because of the impact math has had on my life.

That definitely includes me. I was only screwing around with some crappy BASIC geometry programs I wrote on my 86 until a friend told me about ticalc.org. After that, I got much better at programming, learned assembly, downloaded and enjoyed many others' programs, and eventually started uploading my own.

It seems to me a lot of the people that were quite active here even just a few years ago have gone away... For example, this is the ~4th post but the first by someone with a user ID < 50,000 (news article itself exluded).

I for one am interested in rough statistics of the age of the accounts that do the most posting (or even lurking, if you can do that). I think it would be pretty interesting to look at.

How true. I was once bored and looked at everyone's user ID in an article, and noticed I was the oldest one there. I've been around since December 2002, and I'd expect more people like no_one_2000 who used to be here all the time to still be active.

I've been around since about October-November 2001, even though I post irregularly. Being a TA at a summer camp really cuts down on my time :).

Wow, am I really that much of an old-timer (user ID of around 12000)? I can't remember quite when I joined; I think it was about 6 years ago or so. I got my TI-86 for my 13th birthday on 9/9/99.

Since then, the character of the community, IMHO, has changed drastically. It used to be there was a small core group of programmers who did most of the amazing things, and then assorted other people who wrote Ax+B equation solvers. Now, that core group seems to have mostly moved on and not been replaced, and there's a lot more casual interest in TI's. Then again, I haven't been very active in a couple of years, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

What really drove me away was all the flame wars in the 68k community -- the _nostub programmers vs. the kernel programmers. It just kept getting worse, and I finally decided I had better things to do than hear the same flames posted and reposted incessantly.
