F-ZERO for 68k Calcs
Posted by Michael on 10 December 2005, 20:48 GMT

[F-ZERO]Lionel Anton has released F-ZERO for TI68k. F-ZERO is a racing game based upon the original F-ZERO by Nintendo. It features four different ships and several different modes: Racing against calculator opponents, racing against your own previous times, or racing against a friend on a second calculator. This is a very amazing looking game that everyone with an 89, 89 Titanium, 92+, or V200 should download.

This game is awesome. Although i wish it used the USB cable for two player play cause i don't have a I/O cable.

Lionel is trying to get USB linking to work. We don't know much about the USB linking interface right now (though I managed to get USB linking to work for my Backgammon game), so there's still some guesswork and testing involved. Be patient.

Wow... this is really ridiculously good. Takes up a lot of memory, but still... wow... just wow. I suggest, however, maybe making the possibility to race against AI in versus? Just a thought. Basically, I'd just like to be able to race against AI on any level without having to go through the whole grand prix thing to that level. Maybe we could even adjust how many AI players are on the track with your racer? Or have AI players along with the two human ones in multiplayer versus? Again, just a thought.

ok I'll add this feature for next release :)

"Or have AI players along with the two human ones in multiplayer versus?" > it is already possible , check the link options :)

I have a humble suggestion if you decide to revise the game for future releases (which it seems you already are).

sound: you could use polysnd to provide midi support cuz F-Zero has one of the best and most appropriate soundtracks for a game. I've even converted red canyon and its available for download...if you consider it i'll do the rest of the tracks gladly, though its not hard or anything its just a pain in the ass sorting through midi sequences that will mix properly into 2 channels.

also do you plan to incorporate more of the snes game features into the calc game? Like that little ship that heals you for example?

Also, I hate to bring this up because I'm sure that I must be like the only one who doesn't know, but could you make a quick description of what the stuff on the track is? I understand that the solid gray stuff heals you, I think the arrows improve your boost or something, but what do the striped areas and checkered areas do? Thanks in advance.

Here's his map editor from his own site (dunno if it's a beta) (click link).
